The phone acts as a rotary phone and I cannot find a button on the main set to switch it.

When you dial a number, you hear the rotary turning/clicking as you do when you her a rotary phone which makes it difficult to access sites requiring you to punch in numbers to get to the next level of a service. It also causes the answering machine not to work.

Is it time to get another phone?

  • gsheaffer446 Aug 20, 2009

Is there a button on the main set which switches it from rotary to dial tone?.

  • gsheaffer446 Aug 20, 2009

    Thank you. It worked.

How do i get code for bluetooth

First make sure that Bluetooth is on on the CDE-143BT. Press and hold Audio/Setup (below and to the right side of the rotary encoder dial until you enter the Setup mode. Use the rotary dial to get to Bluetooth. Press the Search/Enter button (the center of the rotary dial). Then use the rotary encoder to go through the Bluetooth Settings menu. Press Search/Enter to toggle the current value. After Bluetooth is on, go to Visi M setting and make sure that it is on. Now, you need to go to the Bluetooth settings area of your cell phone when it is within range of the receiver. Tell it to pair with the receiver. Then when it asks for the code enter "0000". This code is hard encoded into the unit. See page 23 of the manual for the CDE-143BT for the code. The manual is available here: http://vault.alpine-usa.com/products/documents/OM_UTE-42BT_CDE-SXM145BT_CDE-143BT_EN.pdf . Surrounding pages show setting the other Bluetooth settings.

Note: the receiver will be acting like a Bluetooth headset. That's why you need to enter the receiver's PIN on the phone.

I hope this helps.

My rotary dimmer doesn't switch 3-ways. I have to push the dimmer button to "on", then I can use the other switch to turn on/off.

You posted under Leviton rotary dimmer.
Lutron and Leviton have many 3-way dimmer styles, and both make 3-way rotary dimmers.

I remember years ago replacing 3-way switches with dimmers and having same experience as you. One dimmer has to be ON for the other dimmer to dim.

Later I learned when you replace both 3-way switches with dimmers, you buy a control-and-companion dimmer set. One dimmer is main, and it lets you dim from both locations. The two dimmers communicate with each other electronically. Buy these dimmers at lighting store that specializes in fixtures and dimmers. Ask for most experienced salesperson.

I checked to see if rotary dimmers are made in the companion set. And neither Leviton or Lutron show 3-way companion set rotary dimmers.

1) Leviton spec sheet on rotary 3-way dimmers does not show companion dimmer. This indicates that Leviton rotary dimmers don't have capability of communicating with each other.

2) Lutron has image of 3-way rotary dimmers.
Image shows single rotary dimmer in 3-way & 4-way circuit.
This tells me that Lutron does not have companion dimmer for 3-way rotary dimmer.

2010 Acadias interior lights will not shut off. All doors are closed. Is there a switch I'm missing and if so where is it?

Hi, viewers! There is a dome lamp cancel switch together with the Main Headlights rotary switch and the backlighting dimmer switch. Just beside to the right of the main headlight rotary knob are two control buttons. Go for the top button, this should cancel the dome lamp function regardless of door opened or closed, otherwise you could be having some wiring or module issues that may need extensive diagnostics. Normally, it takes a minute or two for the dome lamps to automatically turn off after closing the last door, specially the drivers door. I just hope you got it okay, good luck though. : )

It sounds like rotary dialing

I have a similar Panasonic phone (KX_TGA101S).  Someone must have inadvertently changed the dial mode on you.  Here is how you change it on mine, which should be similar to yours.  Hit the Menu button.  Scroll down to "Set tel line" and hit the Menu Button (OK). If it isn't displayed, scroll to "Set Dial Mode" and hit the Menu Button. Select Tone instead of Pulse and hit the Menu Button.  That should do it.
