Hello and Welcome to FixYa!

I will suggest to reinstall the firmware (the operational software) on your MP3 Player.
Follow the following procedure to upgrade firmware:

  1. Connect the unit to the computer.
  2. Set up a folder on the computer hard drive. Copy all the music tracks and data from the unit into the folder.
  3. Quit all software applications running on Windows and disconnect the unit from the computer.
    * If other Digital Music Players are connected to the computer, disconnect all of them from the computer.
  4. Download this firmware file (http://walkman.update.sony.net/fw/pc/DB100/NWD-B100F_V1_3.exe)
  5. Windows Vista users: Click right click the downloaded file and select RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR.
Windows XP/Windows 2000 users: Simply open the downloaded file by double clicking it.
  6. The program will be started.
  7. Connect the unit to the computer.
  8. If Format Data Area is selected in Download options, the unit will be formatted and all music tracks and data are deleted during the update. Make sure to backup the necessary files into the computer before proceeding to next step.
  9. Click Start.
  10. Please do not disconnect the unit from the computer during updating.
  11. When the message of completing updating is displayed, click Close.
  12. Transfer all music tracks and data to the unit that was previously backed up.
You are done. I hope this works for you.

My walkman nwz-b152f shows boot error

First, you go to DEVICE MANAGER. Under PORTABLE DEVICE, there is your WALKMAN. Right click on the WALKMAN. Choose UPDATE DRIVER SOFTWARE. Then, LOCATE AND INSTALL DRIVER SOFTWARE MANUALLY. Then, choose LET ME PICK OF DEVICE DRIVERS ON MY COMPUTER. Currently you are using MTP USB DEVICE...so, now choose USB MASS STORAGE DEVICE. Then, click next. Once u have done all this, format your walkman. Your walkman should be fixed. :)

I had the same problem with you before, and i tried this. My walkman has working like usual, now. I'm using Windows 7. So, best of luck!

P/S : U also can change back your driver to MTP once your walkman had fixed by doing the same step. ^^

No Data/Format error on Sony Network Walkman

Sony Network Walkman does not support adding / removing of files, or formatting if it is not done from SonicStage, their software.
If music is added of removed from windows explorer or other software, the player gives an error message 'No data' or something similar.
To fix the problem, download and install SonicStage from Sony support website.
Select your model and click continue, then scroll down, select your operating system in the select box to the bottom of the page and select the software you want to download...
After installing, connect the player to your computer and select 'format' from the menu (This will remove all data from the player, so you might want to make a backup).
Now transfer your music files to the player using sonicstage.

Good Luck

Boot Error Shutting Down Sony NWD-B103

Had a similar problem with the B103F. Not sure it will work for the non F version.
Goto Sony's support site at http://www.sony-asia.com/section/support.
Search model - NWD-B103F (non F is not listed)
Look at the "latest downloads" and select the "firmware update program". (alternately you could first select the "download" section and then select the model.)
Download.
Run (without the unit plugged) and when asked plug the unit. To be on the safe side, ask it also to format the data section.
When finished, the unit should be OK.
