Grundig g6 airband in khz and poor reception

WWV transmits on MHZ and not KHZ 5 10 and 15 and lower power on 2.5 and 20 MHZ. Depending on where you are, the antenna might no be enough to bring in the signal. You should use an external antenna for serious reception.

Please see below. I believe that you have set the tuning to LOCK, hence the KEY symbol. I have done the same thing with other radios. I bet you never forget this!

Manual Tuning with Rotary Dial You can select a higher or lower frequency by turning ROTARY TUNING. Set FAST/FINE/LOCK to select the rotary tuning increments or to lock the ROTARY TUNING dial. Your radio is not capable of recieving air band frequencies. It will only receive 4 bands consisting of: 26 - 54 MHz; 68 - 88 MHz; 137 - 174 MHz and 380 - 512 Mhz.

The VHF airband uses the frequencies between 108 (just above commercial FM radio) and 137 MHZ (just below 2 meter Ham radio). Amplitude Modulation ("AM") is the mode that transmissions are made. The lowest 10 MHz of the band, from 108-117.95 MHz, is split into 200 narrow-band channels of 50 kHz. These are reserved for navigational aids such as VOR beacons, and precision approach systems such as ILS localizers

It should not be very significant. The gap between two neighboring channels in AM/SW can, on some radios, be set to 9 kHz or 10 kHz depending on countries. For FM the separation is about 100 kHz or 0.1 MHz. Set the right frequency then use the Lock feature. It will prevent any shift/drift of frequency ( and any other changes) until you unlock.

If the radio is made to be sold only in the US then the phase lock loop is disabled when your are trying to transmit out of the US band edges. Try looking up a MARS circuit mod for this model and it amounts to only clipping one end of a diode to enable the transmitter on all frequencies.

Your scanner does not receive frequencies between 54 and 137 MHz, and there's nothing you can do to enable reception in that block. Your only option is to purchase a scanner with air band coverage. Here are the reception ranges of the BC-60XLT-1:

29.0-29.7 MHz 10 Meter Amateur Band

Listening in since the 60's

To commute from °F to °C : simply press the button labeled 9/10k for two seconds to change the medium wave station spacing from 10 KHz to 9 KHz.

Yes it will if you know the frequencies and the broadcast times of the radio you want. During the night the best broadcast bands are the longer wavelengths.
49 m from 6390 kHz and up
41 m from 7600 kHz and up
31 m from 9200 kHz and up
25 m from 12121 kHz and up

During the day Use the shorter wavelengths 11m, 16m, 21/22 m
Unfold the whip antenna, or use the wire antenna if you have one.
Reception is affected by the electrical charge denisty of the ionosphere. It depends on the solar activity (sun spot flares and such activities).

You will hear Radio China international all over the spectrum, Deutch Welle, Radio Canada International, Radio Havana, and a plethora of Religious brodcasts. If like me you miss Radio Moscow, it is now called Goloss Rossya (The voice of Russia). Don't get upset, I was joking.

I think having the display showing MHz for the air band would have been a better choice on Grundig's part, but it really doesn't matter that much. Its just a matter of moving the decimal point to the left three places.
As far as getting better reception on the air band, here are some tips:

1. Use an antenna.
2. Try other antennas.
3. Find a known active freq.
4. Find a freq. low of FM spurs.
5. Turn up the volume.

I own and use a G6, and get decent results with it on the airband.
