The phone is saying that option 128 is missing im not sure what this means

This means that the phone is expecting to receive a tftp server address from the DHCP server to download it's configuration files, but the DHCP server is not providing this information. Please check with your Systems Administrator to make sure your IP PBX or another server is housing the configuration files and the tftp program or daemon is running, then have them add the tftp server setting to the DHCP scope for your network.

We have a Talkswitch system at our office. My Talkswitch 480i now seems to has lost its brains. When I power it down now, it does not seem to talk to the switch to obtain its configuration. It always...

The problem would seem like the phone is not finding the TalkSwitch system, or the configuration file for the phone does not exist. There are usually only 3 things that can cause this issue to occur:

1. Verify that the IP address for the TFTP Server, this must be your current public IP address. This can be found in the phone's menu under Networking -> TFTP Server -> Primary TFTP Server

2. Ensure that port 69 is open in the firewall at the TalkSwitch's side. Run the TS firewall test to confirm that it passes.

3. Confirm that you have the correct MAC address entered in for the Extension in the TalkSwitch software

This occurs when the phone is set up to load it's configuration file from a ftp or tftp server and it cannot find the file or server location. If the phone is supposed to do this, please check that the ftp or tftp service is running on the specified server. The server name or ip is specified in the setup of the phone, available when the phone is first booting up. The default username is 'Polycom' and password is '456'. If you DO NOT want your phone to get it's configuration from a network server, enter the setup area and remove the server name or IP address from the appropriate section.

My cisco ip phone 7905 series is rebooting continuously

Hi,

the reason for this would be that it is not getting it's config from the CallManager (or CME router).

The steps in a phone booting up something like this:
1) DHCP for IP Address, and Option 150 for TFTP Server
2) TFTP to address provided by DHCP Option 150
3) Get config file, a(an upgrade of firmware may occur at this point)
4) Connect to Call Manager/CME as specified in config file

First check DHCP server to see if it is allocating an address to the MAC address of the phone
Second confirm if DHCP is providing Option 150 and that is the IP Address of the TFTP Server (typically one of your Call Managers)
Third check that the phone is correctly configured on CCM/CME. A common error at this stage is that the phone is configured with the wrong model type.

Call back if you get to that stage and are still having problems.

Cheers, Simmo99.

Cisco 7911G definitely dead?

You are very close to fixing your problem. You will need the correct firmware and files; these are proprietary but you should be able to acquire them from your certified reseller. Alternatively, here at IdacomUSA, we have the proper firmware on hand, and can flash the phone for you to get it back to life. Call us at 1-800-903-9190 or visit us at http://idacomusa.com

Hello all can you please help me on how to restore the configuration of my ASA 5520? thanx

If you are going for factory reset use the following commands

asa>enable
asa#write erase
asa#reload

Dont save the configuration when it prompts for it.

if you want to restore the configuration from the backup

1. You need to have a TFTP server
2. Locate the config file on your TFTP server
3. TFTP server should be reachable from ASA

then

asa#copy tftp flash

give the tftp server ip address
give the configuration file name (as exactly on the TFTP server)

reload

Polycom ip501f error, application is not present

Make sure you have the latest BootROM and SIP config files for this polycom(sip.ld, sip.cfg, etc...) on your TFTP server. If you do not have this - download from here - http://www.polycom.com/support/voice/soundpoint_ip/soundpoint_ip501.html

If you do not have a TFTP server, you can download one for free.
