Hotpoint Microwave - won't stop spinning/buttons seem to do nothi

My Hotpoint Microwave starts automatically running when the door closes (no heat) and won't stop. Hitting Clear or Stop seems to do nothing. I can't tell if this is:

a) A problem with a chip
b) A user problem
c) Hardware problem.

I'm not sure. It seemed to be ok recently.

It's actually not intermittent. It's always "on" at this point. As soon as you close the door, the light is on and the turntable is moving. I was told to cut off the motor for the turntable and that might do the trick.

i posted early; i may be wrong because i missed no heat. intermittent working, when you close door the light and turntable is on, right? yes still would be control board/chip. no heat could be another problem.

how will you disconnect the motor? will that reset the problem? i can't tell unless i have my hand on it. i would try another keypad if u had one.

Kenmore microwave 721 85032010 will turn on but won't heat or spin

Chances are that is just a defective top or bottom door switch or its mount.
See our help file on door switches here.
Also, that model number does not show up as a valid US Kenmore model.
Please check the tag in the cooking cavity or elsewhere n the oven and let us know if you need further help.

Hotpoint RVM1435 when I push start button will not start unit?

Hello :

It could be bad door switch or loose door switch mount . There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly .

WARNING : A microwave oven is capable of giving you a serious electrical shock, even when it is unplugged. I strongly recommend you seek the assistance of an appliance repair technician when conducting any microwave oven repair .

good luck .

Self start when door closes

if electronic control, one of two things come to mind. 1)your toutch pad is defective.replace it. 2)you electronic board has a leaky component.not very likly though. believe it or not, ive seen it start before by itself then i noticed a large quantity of bugs inside the glass which i realised triggered the microwave 0ff.
