Briel espresso machine

The frother (steamer) stopped working. The pump seems to be running but emits only a tiny amount of steam (not even enough to heat milk). How can I get it to work or where do I find where to send it for repair. I have only had the machine for 14 months.

Try opening the frothing valve by turning the dial and force water through it instead of steam by pressing the middle, coffee button. You may be experiencing vapor lock. Once the water comes through the steamer valve, turn the steamer knob off and release the coffee button. Then try the steamer button with the steamer dial open. This may do the trick.

Unscrew the steamer frother end and use a pin to push out any built up deposit from the tip. Also, fill the water reservoir tank with half vinegar and water solution to descale inner parts of the machine by running a few cycles until the tank is empty.

There must be a blockage in that steam pipe, I think you need to dismantle the machine and remove all of the steamer parts off the boiler and look for the cause of the problem. Oftentimes it will be old hard milk that has been drawn up the pipe and gone hard from the heat. Once cleaned out prevention by blowing a large amount of extra steam through it after each use is the solution.

Frother not working

Unscrew the plastic frother head and make sure that the plastic and the metal ends aren't blocked. Run a descaling solution through the machine.

I have a Briel ED 132A Classic how do I prime the pump for the st

Sometimes the self- priming pump feature may not work due to a momentary "air lock" condition. If water does not flow from brew head, place a cup under the steam frother. Open steam control and turn the switcher onto the icon of the half-full cup until water flows from steam frother. Turn off steam control, as Espresso maker is now ready.

Frother doesn't froth

Does not seem normal! You should get plenty of steam for the frothing. Since the unit is new you should take it back and get a replacement. The unit needs to increase the temperature for steam, route the steam away from the espresso group to the steam unit and the pump needs to activate to create the high pressure. Any failure in this areas will create your condition. It also possible that your steamer is blocked but this is a new machine so this is unlikely but you should make sure that it is not blocked.

No steam comes to milk frother

Try this: 1. Pour in vinegar instead of water. 2. Bring vinegar to a boil but do not run it through the machine. 3. Turn off machine for about an hour. 4. Remove sheath from the frother and clean the metal tip. 5. Place tip of frother into large mug of cold water. 6. Turn espresso machine on and allow vinegar to run through frother. 7. You'll know the frother is clear when the water in the mug begins to churn rapidly (and perhaps loudly).
It may take the vinegar a little while to dissolve and loosen the blockage. If the process does not work the first time time, try again later and allow the warm vinegar to sit in the machine longer.

Optional: Before starting the process, unbend a paperclip or thin metal hook (the kind used for hanging holiday ornaments) and use it to clear the steamer orifice.
To keep frother clear: Follow recommended descaling schedule in user manual

Steamer

Both tubes must be in the water. If you haven't used the machine for awhile, fill the water canister, turn the espresso maker on and also turn on the delivery switch (the top switch on the EC140). You'll hear the pump and in a second or two water will begin to exit the boiler nozzle. Immediately turn the delivery switch off. Wait for the "OK" light to come on. Press the "Steam" switch (the middle switch on the EC140, place an empty cup under the frother and turn the steam control knob on top in the counterclockwise direction. Steam will come from the frother. Be very careful to avoid contact with this steam.
