I have a Kenmore Dehumidifier the fan will run for a while and then stops. I greased the fan motor it ran for a while and then stopped. My feeling is the fan motor bearing has loosened and as the motor...

does the motor feel extremely hot? how free are the bearings? Is there any squeaking when the fan turns? any resistance at all? If you have a problem with the bearings then change them that would cause the thermal overload to trip in the motor to unsure it doesn't burn out.

I have a Model 25350650000 Kenmore Dehumidifier. Everything works--motor, fan, lights, won't extract humidity from air

Hi,
There are many reasons why a dehumidifier will not work or collect water.
Here is a tip that I wrote to help people to figure out what is going wrong with their dehumidifier

Dehumidifier is running but no water is in bucket

Fan stopped running but it sounds like the compressor is still trying to operate.

Eather the fan motor is going bad or the cap is try changing the cap first, if not the motor.

Fan will not run

It's probably a common problem with these models: the fan motor causing a thermal cut off fuse to blow. I have the same problem. See this link on another site: http://forum.doityourself.com/humidifiers-dehumidifiers/177549-kenmore-dehumidifier-fan-stopped.html

I have a Kenmore 54701 Dehumidifer that quit working is there any thing to look for or just throw it out and buy a new one

Is it not powering at all? Remove cabinet and check glass fuse on power supply board

Is it running but no water?
Check to see if fan is blowing; if not then thermosenser on fan motor blown

Fan and compressor running but no water? Maybe the room is already dry; if not than probably have coolant leak - not worth fixing

Dehumidifier runs but doesn't produce water

Your dehumidifier has a circulating fan that draws the room air over the coils. If there's no air movement out the front or back of the unit, the fan motor may be burned out or stuck, or the fan blade may be broken. If so, you need to replace the fan motor or the fan blade.

Fan does not operate in my 54501 Kenmore dehumidifier; therefore, unit gets very hot.

Shut the power off to the unit, spin the fan blade to see if it spins freely. If it doesn't spin freely, (there appears to be a little drag when you spin it),the bearings are bad, if it does spin freely, then try moving the motor shaft from side to side if there’s any play in the shaft side to side then the bearings are worn and motor needs replaced. Then, check the capacitor, if it’s bulging even slightly, the capacitor is bad and needs replaced. Most of the time people replace the capacitor if motor seems ok. If capacitor is ok, turn power on to see if the motor is getting the proper voltage, if it is and not trying to run, then the windings are probably open, the motor's bad and needs replaced.

Kenmore model 580.54701 70 Pint dehumidifier

Evaporator fan is not turning on - a problem with almost all dehumidifiers... probably on this unit (being so new) it's the control circuitry (in the circuit board) which switches the fan on...
I have the same unit with the same problem)

Good luck!
