My HP 530 notebook does not either play logon sound or music
My speaker properties indicate that i have no sound device; i neither have sound playback device nor any other related sound device. This problem started after i installed a new Windows operating system (XP). I have installed all the necessary drivers but the problem still persist.

Check your volume controls and make sure you have them turned up and not on mute. Check your audio and sound devices in the device manager to make sure they are all working properly.
You can right click on the megaphone at the bottom right near the time to adjust the volume and audio properties.
You can also click Start/Control Panel and look for Sound and Audio devices to make sure the volume is up and not muted.
You do not say which operating system you are using. My answer can therefore only be general rather than specific to your operating system.
The Video Camera you tried to install probably has an in-built microphone. Connecting this is may have changed the default settings for your audio devices.
You have a number of options for fixing this problem.
SYSTEM RESTORE Start > All programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore > Restore my computer to an earlier time > selected a highlighted date in the calendar and an Event in the schedule before the date you tried to install the video camera > restore > restart the computer (you should hear the windows logon on tones if you are using a windows operating system) > (My) Music > Sample Music > double click on any track to test the sound playback.
AUDIO SETTINGS Start > Control Panel > Audio devices > Audio (Playback Devices) > Set Defaults (set the Speakers to be the Default Playback devices > apply > ok > restatrt computer > (My)
Music > Sample Music > double click on any track to test the sound
playback.
AUDIO/SOUND DRIVERS Reinstalling the Audio/Sound Drivers would also probably resolve the problem by restoring your Default Audio settings, if you have the Driver CD for your Laptop or Desktop Motherboard > install Audio/Sound Driver > restart computer > (My)
Music > Sample Music > double click on any track to test the sound
playback.
I cannot direct you to a driver download site, because you have given no information about your computer.

if your computer came with a motherboard disk the sound drivers could be on it control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers select appropriate speakers or audio you will find 3 drop down lists make the necessary adjustmentsthere or control panel, administrive tools, computer management, device manager, sound video and game controllers could be a yellow question mark? right click to re-install drivers
have you tried this control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers select the appropriate speakers from the drop down list or navigate to the device manager scroll to system devices + to expand, system speaker right click properties then select use this device (enable)
go to your sound properties and make sure the playback device is set to the correct device
Right click on the sound icon in system tray, or go to control panel
If your system is not playing out audio music or even the start up tone then you need a sound driver on your system but if you have a sound driver on the system already and you did not hear any sound coming from your system probably you disable it. Goto start menu click on MYCOMPUTER and from there right click on it and click on properties from there you will click on hardware then click on device manager from the device manager you will found the sound /audio driver then by it right click on it and click enable . that will allow the system to voice out ok.
hi,
Launch Sounds in Control Panel
Then in the Sound Control Panel right-click on Speakers and select Properties
Navigate to the Enhancements tab and check Disable all enhancements. IMPORTANT: You MUST have Disable All Enhancements checked even if none of the enhancements are specifically enabled
Then click OK and close the Control Panel.
This should hopefully fix your problem
Go to your device manager list, right-click my computer icon on the desktop then go to properties. Go to hardware tab, click device manager, go and click "sound and video controllers" to see if anything is with a yellow question mark, if there is you need to uninstall the one with the question mark, if not close that window and proceed to right-clicking the volume or speaker icon on your tray (near the system clock on the task bar), right-click and select "adjust audio properties", go to audio tab and select the right audio device from the list you can also see there other playback properties you can try and troubleshoot from there...
