Why is condensation in fridge?

Good afternoon friend, thank you for your post!

I understand that your Frigidaire refrigerator has moisture forming underneath the bottom panel of your freezer and that is causing water to drip onto your shelves. Would you be able to provide me with your model number that way I could research additional information for you please? You can locate your serial tag (which lists your model number) on the inside cabinet of the fresh food compartment normally on the left side of a top mount. On a side by side it can be found on the right hand side. I look forward to your response. -Matt

My sub zero has condensation forming inside the refrigerator

Hi - Did you take the vegetable drawers out to see if there is ice in back? If so, you might have a problem with the refrigerator seal. Defrost the ice and then check the seal of the fridge! If you don't have ice behind the drawers, still check to see if the seal is good. When you close the fridge door, it should be very hard to open if you try to re-open it quickly.

Their are 2 possibilities

1) Freezer door gasket not sealing...if that were the case frost would form everywhere in freezer espically on shelves and packages of food

Hope this helps,if it does please give me a 4 thumbs up rating

I am finding water on the top shelve of the refrigerator as well as under the vegetable bins. Is there something I can do or is it time for a new refrigerator? Not sure that is the model number, had this...

The water is probably condensation. If you are in a humid area and the refrigerator is opened and closed often the humidity in the air will condense on the cool surfaces of the shelves and sides and will run down to the bottom of the refrigerator. If it is very old the door gasket may be deteriorated and leaking air into the refrigerator. Check it by closing the door with a dollar bill sticking out. If you can pull the bill out easily when the door is closed the gasket should be replaced.

Door doesn't close properly, leaks water

If the door seals are still pliable and intact there are two possible causes.

1/ The upper door hinge on the top of freezer unit has two adjusting screws under a plastic cover/cap which allows the upper hinge to be set forward or back altering/adjusting the spacing of the door seal to the freezer body. Moving the hinge outward at the top will cause the door to seal tighter at the bottom and lessen escaping cold air and condensation to form (water droplets). Adjust carefully so as not to create a weak seal (air gap) along other sealing edges of the door frame.

2/ Many United Refrigeration Commercial Freezers are manual defrosting. Moisture from inside the freezer can condense between the inner molded door panel (door shelves) and the exterior metal door. Usually ice buildup will occur in this space, but when defrosting or during high ambient temps the ice will melt and drip out along the bottom door edge/seal. Screws alomg the door frame (hidden by the door seal) hold the seal in place and also the inner molded door panel. The inner panel can be removed to replace the seal or to remove the ice buildup.

Water on btm of glass shelves and water in bottom of frig

sounds like you have a gap in the door seal, which results in condensation forming inside unit. Use a blow dryer to heat the seal around the door and ensure that the fit is tight.

Condensation

Should not be a problem. Be aware that these units cook more quickly...and they pull out moisture differently from the food and some of it hits colder parts of the oven...condensation. If all else seems well, you're okay.
