If you connect the computer directly to the modem, does it work?
If that works then the modem is working.
Now connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
You will need to open the set up page of the router to check the settings of the router.
You can set up the router without the CD also.
It is very easy.

Your firmware may not support bridge mode, try installing dd-wrt from http://dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv3/index.php

The linksys is connected up and running with dsl connection but the laptop or the other computer cant get internet, Why's that?

Have you verified the settings for the Linksys? is the issue that you have entered the incorrect key for the wireless? Can you get online with one of the systems? or none? If not, the majority of DSL providers do assist in setting up the modem to work with popular 3rd party routers. You may need the modem bridged out and have the settings placed into your router for the other systems to get online.

II gave my router to my mother it has already been set up for an encryption I gave them the passkey and it is not working could this be due to the fact she has dsl internet and I had cable

>No, it really doesn't matter what type of service you have.
>To get it fixed just make sure that if your mom uses a modem and you hooked the router to it, modem must be in BRIDGED mode before you can make the router work.
>To set the modem to bridged mode you need to contact your mom's DSL provider so they can walk through it

In the diagram below, if this is your setup, modem has to be on Bridged Mode:

Phone jack --- modem --- Linksys Router --- computer

Cannot connect to att DSL through Linksys router.

hi
I've tried:
Having the router get an IP automatically from the modem.
Changing the router's IP address.
Having the modem pass PPPoE authentication to the router.
Bridging the modem.
Power cycling the guts out of everything.

Apparently the issue is caused because the motorola 2210 is also a router. To solve the problem the motorola must first be placed in "bridge" mode. Complete steps are available at: http://www.dslreports.com/faq/15855

DSL line disconnects on WRT54GS only

Try to change the LAN IP address of your router to 192.168.2.1 by accessing the router's Setup page. You also need to set your Westell modem to "full-bridge mode". You need to ask assistance from your ISP to bridge the modem. After that, set-up the Linksys router to PPPoE then power cycle it.

Setting up linksys wireless router with motorola 2210 dsl modem

One thing that isn't mentioned anywhere is the modem has to be in bridge mode. I was told this by a Linksys tech after doing all that was documented in the references article. I contacted my internet provider and they told me how to set the modem to bridge mode. This corrected the PPPoE error.

Wireless network broken, access to WRT54G & Motorola 2210-02 via http.. denied

I have att yahoo dsl which I installed about a year ago. The process required bridging the ADSL Modem (in my case a speedstream 4100) and accepting dynamic IP addresses and configuring PPPoE on the WAN side of my Linksys router. The ATT support person walked me through the entire process over the phone even though I was comfortable with making the Linksys configuration changes as I had to do the same in China without technical support. The modem configuration was no more difficult than the router configuration as it was performed from a web browser too. The biggest warning was that to reverse the modem change (if desired) required use of a reset button because the web interface was disabled as a result of the configuration change. My advice to you especially if you are willing to attach the Linksys router to the telco modem is to contact the ATT highspeed DSL support line and see if they will walk you through it like they walked me through it. Reviewing your Linksys User's Guide and understanding the configuration of that device would probably be appreciated by the ATT Support person as well as assuring you can access the Linksys router to configure it during the call.
