Your battery is dead. fit a new battery, or take it into a shop and get them to fit a new battery. I had the same problem with mine (ipod video) and its been perfect ever since.

I have an ipod model a1199. i was wondering if you can use a newer ipod touch charger for it? and if not what kind of charger does it use?

Charge an iPod Nano Without a Charger
If you've misplaced or broken the charger that came with your iPod Nano, you might think you need to purchase a new one in order to continue using your Mp3 player.
However, there is a way that you can continue enjoying your iPod without having to purchase a new charger.
As long as you have a USB cord and a computer, you can charge your iPod without having the charger.

Locate the USB cord that came with your iPod Nano package.
It is the same cord that you use in order to sync or transfer music.
Plug the small end into your iPod Nano.

Plug the other, larger end into your computer's USB port.
Choose "Do Nothing" when your computer presents the dialogue box to let you choose what to do with the hardware or USB connection.
Leave your Nano plugged into your computer for at least 4 hours to charge.
Unplug your iPod Nano when charging is complete.
Charge an iPod Without the Charger
Many iPod owners purchase a charging unit that plugs into a standard wall outlet to recharge the iPod's battery.
However, the iPod wall charger is not included with new purchases, so consumers must either purchase a separate charger or find a way to charge their iPod using other means.
Here's a simple method to charge your iPod using your computer.

Plug the iPod USB cable into the bottom of your iPod.
Plug the other end of the iPod USB cable into a free USB port on your Mac or PC computer.

Open the iTunes program by clicking on the icon in the Dock on a Mac or using the Start menu on a PC.
Click on the name of your iPod under the "Devices" heading in the main iTunes window.
Click on the "Sync" button to synchronize your iPod with your computer data.
While the iPod is syncing, the power from the USB port on your computer will charge your iPod's battery.

Unplug your iPod from the computer once the battery is fully charged.

This one should be ok.

How do I charge my iPod touch for the First Time

Apple iPod touch is a personal audio player with the ability to store and play MP3 files, digital video and downloadable games and applications. The unit is powered by a rechargeable battery. When charging the battery for the first time, ensure that the battery is fully charged. From there you can turn it on or removing the device from the charger, if desired, regardless of battery level.

1. Enter the main connection for the iPod cable to the socket at the bottom of the iPod touch.

2. Insert the small plug into a USB port on your computer. Turn on the computer. Alternatively, an iPod charger, sold separately, you can recharge your iPod touch with a socket. Connect the wall charger into an AC outlet. Insert the plug on the door of the small wall charger. The battery icon located in the upper right corner of the screen, the battery is charging.

3. Let the battery fully charged. When the battery icon to indicate the device is fully charged, remove the iPod from the cable.
My ipod 30gb needs to connect to its charger before it power on, and sometimes when i disconnect it from its charger sometimes my ipod will also shutdown, My next problem is that, when my ipod 30gb...

The Batteries in these units like all rechargeable batteries only have a certain number of times they can be charged and discharged before begining to fail. Your only option is to replace the battery with a new one. They are cheap to purchase off eBay and YouTube has Videos detailing how to change them.

When I Connect My Ipod Touch 8gb To My Computer It Wont Turn On And I Didnt Charge It For Like A Month What Should I Do Please Help Me!!!

You are right, it doesn't have enough power to turn on because the battery was drained. You're saying that it wont charge? It could only be the USB cable problem. Try to use a different iPod USB cable and check if it charges the iPod. Another thing is try to charge the iPod using the stand alone USB charger. Your iPod requires high power input. If that doesn't work, you may start to think that it is a battery failure.

Won't turn on

Is your iPod fully charged? Sometimes the batteries become so depleted of charge that an accessory charger won't turn it on.

-Try plugging it in to your computer or a wall charger for a while, time will vary but it may turn on.

-If it is not turning on your computer will never recognize it, thus you won't be able to do a restore with iTunes.

-Try a hard restart as well this could help you.

I pod problems

Hi
I think your battery may be going bad or you need to purchase a wall charger to fully charge your battery. Charging your iPod on your computer works fine for a while, but as the battery gets older, it needs more charging and often it doesn't get enough from the computer. Try a wall charger first. Charge it all the way up until it stops charging. If it still shows a low battery you need to have a new battery. There are a lot of places that can do it. Hope that helps.

Phone does not charge

When my phone is connected to the charger, it says fully charged. But as soon as I disconnect the charger, the battery shows empty. When I connect the phone to the charger, it starts charging but after 10 seconds it says fully charged.

My Ipod Nano Wont Charge on the wall Charger.

Hello Kawase,

I would suggest you try charging the unit this one time by connecting it to the computer. I suspect that the charger may be defective if plugging the wall charger into the iPod has no effect on the low battery warning. If the iPod is able to be charged from the USB port on your computer that would tend to confirm that the charger is not working. If the iPod does not charge when connected to either the computer or the wall charger then you may very well have a another defective iPod.

Best Regards
Ken
