RCA Scenium: l5000yx1 - turns on and off by itself.

TV is several years old...but was working fine until last night...Turns on for a minute, then the blue light flashes and the screen goes blank, sound is still there, then the screen comes back, blue light flashes and it goes out again. Any ideas/solutions - or am I looking at a service call.

My tv does the same thing. I have unplug it, waited for a few minutes (even up to a whole day) plugged it back up and it comes on, shuts off repeating this action several times. Then the light on the power button will flash three times, pause, repeating this action until I unplug it again. Do you have any suggestions as to what to do????

Same here. It's gotten so bad that it turns off after a few minutes, and then on, then off then on. Got so fed up that we unplugged it and plugged in our little TV. UGH

Mines did the same thing. I had to get a new bulb $200 on line and pay someone $200 more to fix some wires that had pulled apart when we changed out the light. But now it works great!

My tv will turn on and then after a while it turns itself off and then back on in a few seconds and this repeats all night

there is most likely a bad connection on the power board. i really suggest not letting it do that all night unplug the tv it can do alot of damage to the tv if it cycles like that for long periods of time.

Set is 7 years old - it turns off intermintently

Ours used to do that - and then we moved it to another state with us. Since the move it doesn't shut itself off anymore. I suspect that the problem was dirt and dust inside which got knocked loose in the move and the shutdown was due to thermal limits being exceeded. You may want to try vacuuming or blowing out the dust inside if you feel comfortable opening up the unit.

Rca scenium turns off and on

I had the same problem with mine. It was overheating. I installed a small cpu cooling fan on the back of the unit. No problems since. Good luck.

I had the same behavior, but not as a result of power outage. The TV is driven by windows CE software and it goes haywire every now and then. Usually pulling the plug for a few seconds takes care of any problems, but not this time (as you noticed). I had unplugged my ethernet connection on the TV a few weeks ago and thought I'd hook it up again to see if there was a new software release (not likely). I went to the menu and chose "Connections" and then chose "Ethernet Setup" and then chose "Reset All". After I closed the menu the TV rebooted itself (as it said it would). After my TV rebooted I had my analog channels back. There shouldn't be any connection between these two events, but it worked for me. Hopefully it will work for you as well. Good Luck!
