Hp f340 will not scan

To correct this problem you need to install the patch from HP site from this link and then after that everything will be fine.

Are you using Vista? I know that the Scan button doesn't work with Vista. There's a way around it though (if Vista is the problem.) Click the Windows Vista icon, click All Programs, and then click Windows Photo Gallery (mine was in a subfolder.) Click File, and then click Import From Camera or Scanner. Click Import, and then click Scan. There is also a similar way to scan with the Paint program.

I am assuming that you can print. If so, we can assume that the driver is installed correctly.

You may have to work with the HP software on your computer (especially the first time).

Try looking under start, programs, HP and look for the scanning software. Start it up and tell it to scan a page. You should be asked a few questions about color and quality, text or no text.

See if that helps.

Are you able to make scan from the unit to the computer. If not, your unit is defective and need a replacement.

Place your document or picture on the glass. If scanning film, placethe 35 mm negative or slide in the special adapter provided by HP.Select the Scan Picture, Document or Film button depending on what youare scanning. Select the Make Copies button to copy the document orpicture directly. Click "Scan" and then "OK" to see the scan preview.

you need a program to scan it

HP gear is troublesome all right. Sounds like the drivers and software necessary to catch the button push on the scanner is not installed or working correctly (this is separate usually from the other drivers and so forth). Try reinstalling all of the HP drivers and utilities from the latest versions on their web site.
