You have an early unit and need to install the firmware upgrade. Download it from Samsung and burn to a CD. Insert the CD in the DVD player and the upgrade will be performed.

I have a Magnavox MRV700VR. I can record on a DVDR, but when I try to record on a DVDRW it tells me "disc error". Why?

It will be either that you have not formatted the disc or that you are using the wrong type of disc. You will need a DVD+RW on a + machine or DVD-RW on a - machine. Most recorders will playback the other type but not record on it.

I have a dvdr3380 lately when i put in disc it says disc unrecord

Test the created DVD with TMPGEnc v4.0 Xpress here is the free trial link It has a read source function that will fail if the DVDR has not been authored correctly.

If this works and scans in the full DVDR then I suggested that you buy a branded DVD+R like Philips who created the format, if this still fails I think you DVDR 3380 will need a service.

Similar problem as you helped me solve before.

OK, I think I see the problem there.
The aerial lead from the DVDR to TV should be removed.
You should have it setup the same as the other Freeview - VCR - TV
Nutshell time:
Main aerial to Freeview input.
Loop aerial from freeview output to DVDR areial input (all this does is allow you to watch freeview, or standard both out of the DVDR)
So..
Scart from Freeview to DVDR input
Scart from DVDR output to TV
Set DVDR to AV input mode.
Set TV to AV (whatever number you need for that..you now won't get anything on screen unless you have the right input selected)

If you can now see the Freeview picture on the TV and change the channels with the Freeview remote then you should be set for recording.

Having the aerial and a scart lead both going to the TV is not needed.

Samsung dvd recorder

Make sure you have finalised the disk, otherwise it won't play back on other players. Also there are two standards that you can use to record onto disks, video mode or VR mode. Video mode was the original standard but it wouldn't let you edit or add anything to the recording afterwards but it is more compatible with other players. VR mode allows you to edit the recording but is less compatible for playback on other players.

Recording from cable dvr

You have to hook up an AV cable from the box to the DVDR.. Out on the cable box to IN on the DVD player.
Then put your DVD player on AV1 - ( you can do this by pressing the INPUT SEL button on the DVDR remote)

Then put the Cable box on whatever channel you want to record. And press the record button on the DVDR and you will record whatever channel the cable box is on

If you can't get to AV1 then you have to disable cable box control (menu>setup>system>cable box control>off

Samsung dvdr-120

try checking on the recording mode of the DVD. V recording mode produces more compatible DVD disc. Stay away from VR mode. You may refer to your manual.
