Samsung DLP t.v. model #HLR5067WX/XAA

To anyone that can help diagnose my problem........

The television brand & model # are listed above & below in the "Subject" & "Product" sections.............well, here I go........... I pressed the power button on my television and it did its usual "clicking" sounds as always & sounded its usual electronic chime that lets me know I'm 'powering it up.' However, I immediately noticed a very dim picture. the television still has sound and the picture still appears to be sharp, but way too dim now.

The television will only stay on for about 1 minute & 30 seconds and then the picture goes black, leaving only the audio section of the T.V. remaining on for approximately 5 seconds......Immediately after the sound goes off, the television's power button will flash all 3 symbols in a sychronized fasion that read....."Timer", "Lamp" and "Standby Temp".....

It seems to me that the bulb has lost brightness or some kind of amplification to it. Do the flashing lights stand for a repair code?

Any assistance with this would be sincerely and greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Joe

This could mean there's a problem with your lamp. you'll need to go online to buy another as most stores do not carry them.
BTW it's good to have two of the insanely expensive bulbs at a time. One in your TV and the other incase the first one goes out during the Super Bowl.
Most lamps only last about 1000 hours.

I had a 61" DLP[Samsung] for about a year, never one problem until yesterday when I tried to turn it on...it would come on for about 5 seconds and then turn right back off!I checked online only to find That samsung is having alot of problems...I did not spend 3200[with tax] for the TV to break down in less than a year or a year and a 1/2 !I looked for about two months at different TVs before going with this one....I read where people was spending 900-1000 dollars to have them repaired and then breaking down again, I called Samsung only to find out my Warranty ended last month....and they could send out a repair man but It would cost just to find the problem...that made no sense to me.....When I asked to speak with a Tech their I got someone who had no Idea what I was talking about said that he had not heard of that problem,But I see alot of people on here with the same problem!samsung was not very friendly or helpful...I lost alot of respect for what I thought to be a great company!!!!!!!!!Today I decided to give Sams a call[where I bought it] I told them How Samsung treated Me and they said no problem, just bring it in and we will deal with them....I did and got a full refund with no receipt!!!!!!!!!{well worth the 40 dollars a year]Now I need to find a TV that will last more than one or two years.any suggestion?

My Samsung 50'' DLP msg "Check Fan No. 3"

You can attempt to remove the back cover, but there is a very delicate mirror in the back. I'd just move it away from the wall, used compressed air to clean out the fans, and put everything back together. Just make sure you don't damage the color wheel or light engine.

My samsung tv hlr5067wx/xaa screen turns black, sounds is fine. if i turn it off for awhile i can get picture for a few minutes, but it goes back to black screen

I suspect the lamp is failing on your TV. The lamp replacement code is listed on the side of the TV on a sticker that is orange and white. It will start with BP96-. The lamp code is crucial on these older Samsung DLP's because they used quite a few different styles. Please take a few moments to rate my answer. Thank you...

Random dots or pixels failing on a DLP TV will be a bad DMD chip. This is a technician replace item only. The chip runs around 160 dollars list price. The part number will depend on which version the set uses and will be determined by the technician.
