I purchased my Hitachi 50V500A Ultra-vision less than two years ago. Recently a blue ghost type cloud or blob began to appear on the top left corner of the screen. This cloud changes in shape very slowly after hours of use. This is a T.V. that is practically new and cost me around $2,000.00 and should not be happening. Does this have some type of simple solution?
You have a defective light engine and you do not have to be under warranty for Hitachi to replace this part. We just went through this and here's what you need to do. Call Hitachi's customer relations department at 800-654-7013 and tell them that you have a defective light engine. They will act like they've never heard of this problem but they have. They will give you the names of some certified dealers in your area to call. Once a tech comes out and confirms that it's the light engine, call Hitachi back and they will send a brand new light engine to the dealer and Hitachi will cover the cost of the part (cost $1500).
Here is the deal, if you're under warranty, Hitachi will cover the part and the install. If you're not under warranty, all you pay is the install. Our install cost $400. Others on this site have paid $200. Do not let anyone tell you that you have to pay for the light engine part...you do not. Hitachi has not recalled this part but they are replacing it for free. Also, deal only with Hitachi customer realations number that I listed. Good Luck!

Blue ghost image on the top left hand corner of my Hitachi 50V500A.
I satarted getting blue lines all over the tv screen. How do you do a magic focus ?I have tried to adjust it with Auto Magic focus and the blue lines still show up. Maybe im doing something wrong. can you help? I don't have the Hitachi Manual , is there a way to adjust the magic focus?

Im having the same problem with my tv. I called the 1800 number suggested here, they were actually very rude to me when i told them about this problem and told them i have read reports online about it getting fixed. They told me that "all they could do for me is give me the number to a dealer in my area and me pay them to replace it" if anyone could give some assistance on how to get this part replace with me just paying the labor that would be great.
My tv will shut off and then within 2 minutes turn back on. this happens every 10 minutes
