To reset the nano, you slide the hold button on the top to red then back to black, the hold down the center button and the menu button at the same time for a few seconds. Works for all versions of the nano

Ipod

If your iPod nano won’t turn on or respond
1) Make sure the Hold switch is off.

2) If that doesn’t work, connect iPod nano to your computer’s USB or FireWire port. Your
iPod nano battery might need to be recharged.

3) If that doesn’t work, your iPod nano might need to be reset.

a) Toggle the Hold switch on and off (set it to Hold, and then turn it off again).
b)Press and hold the Center and Menu buttons for at least 6 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

4) If that doesn’t work, you might need to restore iPod nano software.
