While opening the laptop, dust/moisture may have accumulated on the contact points to the battery, hence LED is lighting up since power is reaching till there but does not continue to the battery. Another soln is to keep the laptop operating on the battery till the battery is completely drained of charge. Remove the battery for a couple of hours & after cleaning the battery connection points replace & switch on the AC adapter & check the battery charge without using the laptop to see if the charge has gone up or not, else the battery could be a fake( or Chinese) ...........sodeep

Hello,

I would check to make sure the AC adaptor connection on the motherboard was not damaged when you opened the pc. ( I have done that a few times.) I'm uncertain of what you have done to solve the problem. Since you have the new battery, again try to charge the battery. when it show the charge is complete, let the pc run until it goes off, when it does, keep powering your pc on until it will no longer power on. (You want to make sure the battery is completely drainned.) Once complete, try plugging the AC to your pc and monitor the charge. You may need to let the pc charge for at least 2 hours before powering the pc on.

Good Luck

Sony Vaio VGN-FZ21E

From the looks of things after searching Google, it looks like Sony has admitted that there is a factory issue with that laptop and that video board. Contact Sony for a factory repair.

F12 diagnostic test

Having done a search on Google there are a large number of users suffering from the same problem. Some have stated that heating the GPU resolved the problem. If that is the case then there is a probability that the GPU is inherently defective.

As your model of laptop is one of those that Dell have publicly admitted is inherently defective then if this problem is related to the GPU then you may want to check with Dell to see if they will replace the mainboard.

You can try "baking" the gpu just be forewarned you could do more damage than good if you are not careful. I did this just recently on an M90 Dell with the same issue and worked to solve the problem.

What has actually happened is the gpu has overheated causing cracking in the solder connections. By heating up the gpu you in a sense, melt the soldier back into position, thus removing the cracks.

AGAIN...ONLY TRY THIS AS A LAST RESORT!

First, remove the battery from the laptop and the AC power.

Next, turn the laptop upside down and remove the large panel.

You will then see the heat sink assembly. Remove this and it will reveal the Nvidia GPU.

Using a hair dryer on its hottest setting heat the GPU for around sixty seconds.

Allow the laptop to fully cool before moving it.

Reassemble the laptop and then connect to either the HDMI or the D-Sub.

It they display correctly then you have proved the presence of the defect of the motherboard but hsould have also fixed the problem for the time being until the next time it overheats. If successful, I would reccoment that you get a chilling pad and try to keep the laptop cooler.

I hope the above helps.

Ac light blinks ,battery does not charge

GPU/ Video Failure... You most likely have an issue with the Integrated Graphics Chipset and it's BGA connection to the Motherboard...

You will need to Repair the GPU or replace the motherboard to correct the issue (assuming by the vague description that this is common for that model series).

My laptop screen turned white all by itself while running. I turned it off. Now, when I start the laptop it displays the same white screen after the boot. The white screen is stripped with blue, black and...

Hi there, most likely there is a problem with either the GPU of your laptop.
The only other troubleshooting step you can try is to open the laptop up and reseat the connector of the LCD to the motherboard where your GPU is integrated.
You may also want to try an external monitor and if nothing is displayed or the same screen is displayed then the GPU of your laptop is fried and it needs to be replaced.
Hope this helps!

My dv6000 will power up and go back off

This model of laptop has an overheating problem. This problem affect the Nvidia GPU and cause that issue. You have two options, one cheap and one expensive.

The cheap one is that you must overheat the Nvidia GPU, in order to resolde it again. This procedure you can make it with a Heat Gun. I mean you need to extract the motherboard and apply the heat directly to the GPU 90 seconds max. Put all the pieces together again (dont forget to apply thermal paste to CPU and GPU) and when the laptop turn on again, go to the HP website and download the las Bios update to your model.
This solution give you as long time as you work with your laptop fresh. You can download the CORETEMP application, to keep watching the CPU temperture.
Cost: $ 20 Heat Gun (harbor freight), $ 7 new thermal paste (for the CPU and GPU)

The expensive one is send your computer to a authorize service center and ask for a reballing repair to your GPU. Cost may be $ 200.

If you need more details, let me know. GOOD LUCK

There is no video on my gateway 6520gz tried connecting to the monitor still nothing can hear the fan running and power light is on

This sounds like a common GPU issue that's affecting alot of laptop users. Your options are:
1. (Not recommanded but it may work) Take out the hard drive and battery then turn on the laptop . while still on, wrap the botton portion of the laptop with a towel until it gets really hot. This is to overheat the laptop for the GPU to stick back to the motherboard. Don't leave the laptop unattented and it's also a fire hazard. Perform this at your own risk.

2. Remove the motherboard and reflow the GPU with a heatgun.

3. Replace the motherboard.

[email protected] I have an HP netbook and there are a bunch of colored squiggly lines across the screen. I know at one time, I had to take the battery out and wait a certain amount of time, but I...

You have Video/GPU failure... Common issue with that model, The graphics chip uses a BGA (Ball Grid Array) Connection, meaning there are hundreds of solder balls that connect the chip to the motherboard, and with your laptop, they used a Cold Solder as Apposed to a Lead Free Solder, And That Cold Solder Connection can not stand up to the heat, The BGA Contacts then Crack and you loose Video... You will need to Have the Video Chip Reflowed or Reballed, Or If Not Able To Do that, You Will Need to Replace the Motherboard To Repair the issue...
Though .... if you are less than a Year out of warranty, you can look up your model on HP's Website (search google for hp dv6000 recall list), and if you're on it, you can get the issue repaired at thier cost..

ZG8 screen does not dispay anything when switched on

This caused by a break in the solder balls holding the GPU to the motherboard. It will need either reflowing or reballing.. google search reballing to find out more.

it could also be the inverter that controls the backlight, unless its an LED screen.
