Samsung CLP-510 Print Quality problem

My printer prints a black (or colored) 1 inch thick series of vertical stripes down the left side of the paper about 90% of the time. (Occasionally, I get lucky and no stripe appears at all). If I'm printing more than 1 sheet of paper, it usually appears after the first couple sheets, and gets worse with each one. Solution? Help!

The following can cause bands (vertical on a normal page)

Faulty Toner cartridge
Faulty Drum Unit
Faulty Transfer Belt
Contaminated Fuser
Damaged or dirty LSU glass

I've also seen this sort of thing caused by a crusty build-up of toner on a wiiper blade on the Transfer Belt, and or Drum.

Two ways you can find out the faulty cartridge.
1. Remove each cartridge, just flip the drum shutter & chk for any toner bands appears on drum surface.. if found replace that cartridge..
2. Go to the paint. create four colored page as shown, print & verify which colored print mixed with bads.. replace that cartrdige.. ">

When I print a color page, there is a multi colored line about a 1/2 inch thick along the left side of the paper. The print quality is good for everything on the page, just this line of swirled colors. ...

Run the Print Quality test. Sounds like one of the color cartridges is bad.
Also run the Disable Cartridge test. That will let you test each cartridge by itself.

Before you do that, open the front door halfway. Now you can see each of the color drums in each cartridge. One of them may have a 1/2" stripe on the drum on the left side.

I had a similar issue with my 510. My printer would only print in b&w regardless of my settings in the printer setup. I uninstalled my printer driver and reinstalled a fresh one from disk. This cleared up my issue.

Why does the Samsung clp-510 color laser printer keeps defaulting to black and white print out when printing color images?

Well one thing you should do is when your printing something out before you print make sue that you have selected color not black and white because most printers have a default setting to use black and white. Also make sure that you have color ink available to print.
