If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following
symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can
examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life
of your monitor or TV by several years.
Take it to a repair shop.

A horizontal line that rolls from the bottom to the top of the tv could be a Hum Bar. This is from a bad ground either for the house electric system or for the cable system. By code, these grounds are supposed to be connected (bonded) together. In other words, the electrical interference is going through your tv instead of into the ground. Fuzzy picture is usually from low cable signal. This can be due to bad cables, connections, or splitters or problems outside with the drop (cable line outside that runs to the house). Splitters, by design, lower the cable signal (i.e. a 2 way splitter cuts the signal in half). If you have unnecessary splitters you should remove them. If you have more than about 6 or 7 tvs, you may need to add an amplifier.

Is the picture fuzzy whether you are waching tv or a dvd or a tape. If it's only fuzzy on tv or dvd or tape then it's the source. If all inputs are fuzzy suspect a bad tv.

Someone here recommended on another post to put the lense cap on & videotape the blackness in a quiet room for 5-10 mins. I tried this as a last resort & it worked. When I played back the tape, no more skipping or gray lines. I had 4-5 SOLID gray lines with skipping video & audio in between on every tape I put in. I think the person who helped me solve this said that it was a result of the tape alignment going off.

Do you happen to have a cable box? (reset cable box also by unpluging it). is that line also showing on dvd player on different input?

Same's happened with my Pentax WR, and a mate's Optio...
