For any gun you use, the more silver in the wire the better, also use a core flux(acid is in the middle of the wire) type. the better stuff is worth the bit of extra cost. it is always worth buying the best wire.

It's not the solder you use for the soldering tool but the correct solder for the JOB you are doing with the tool.
Read the packages and pick the right mix/flux/thickness etc for the metal/connectors/etc you are soldering.

Do stained glass soldering tips go bad or stop working. I have a weller soldering iron that doesn't heat up hot enough to solder. is it the tip or the iron

If this is the dual trigger Weller gun and your tips are held in place by either set screws or by locking nuts, Just loosen both of the parts that are holding the tip to the gun and then retighten them back up. Soldering iron tips that appear to be tight might not be and this will insure that the tip is indeed tight and also cleans up the connection of the tip to the soldering iron. Oxidation from heating and cooling will cause a tip to not get very hot. Loosen the tip holder and then retighten it. Hope this gets you going again.

Is there good operating instructions, or manual for Weller 8200 N 100/140 watts gun?

There are normally three of the same type. They are consumable, you don't need to stock all the different types - just buy the one you need for your current project.

Note, these are high power and were commonly used for soldering wires in the point-to-point wiring used in old tube electronics. Do not use this on a Printed circuit board - it will damage any silicon component.

Use a a soldering pencil for printed circuit boards.

Soldering iron troubleshooting

Bits: It's useful to have a small selection of manufacturer's bits (soldering iron tips) available with different diameters or shapes, which can be changed depending on the type of work in hand. You'll probably find that you become accustomed to, and work best with, a particular shape of tip. Often, tips are iron-coated to preserve their life, or they may be bright-plated instead. Copper tips are seldom seen these days.
