Question about Franke Saphira Espresso & Coffee Maker
Getting the message "Empty Drip Tray" even when the tray is completely empty- we've cleaned contacts, cleaned the whole machine, everything - it won't turn off and its not allowing us to make coffee. Advice? thanks!
I've had this problem with mine but if yours is the same, you'll need some new parts. The valve heads in the machine sit behind the push button panel (i.e. directly over the rear of the drip tray contacts). Over time the pipes and T-pieces break and leak. They leak directly onto the back of the contact connectors making the machine think the drip tray is full - when it isn't ! You'll need to take the machine apart and find the source of the leak - then replace the bits which aren't expensive.
Don't be misled if you can't see an external leak on the machine. When these little plastic pieces fail, the high pressure water sprays out very finely. It only takes a thin film of water on the contacts to cause the fault. Hope this helps.
