Water damage -multiple letters being typed - light remains active

I have had a bit of water onto the phone. I let the phone dry for a day, before restarting.
Now, everytime I press a button, there are more than 1 signs typed: mostly different letters/numbers.
Also, the light behind the red button remains active.

Try this :
This works on most mini electronic devices like cellular phones and degital cameras etc .

it sounds crazy .

Remove the back (or Cover ) of the phone( or Camera ), battery, and SIM if your phone ( or Device ) uses one , DIRECTLY
.

Then, with a q-tip (or something similar), dab the connection points (shiny, goldish) on the battery, SIM, and phone. This should aid in drying.

Finally, place all contents in a bag of uncooked rice (separately, do not put back together just yet). it sounds crazy , but it draws the moisture out.

It normally is working after just 7-8 hours, but I would wait 12 hours or even 24 hours before attempting to use (just to be sure).

beware the water damage, despite being dry now, will void any warranties. Also, the phone's hardware is now weakened and if you drop it, the green mother board and circuitry could shatter - so be more careful.

This does work on electronic devices aside from phones as well. Simply tailor it to your device. If you do not have a SIM (Verizon phones, cameras, all others), remove only the battery. If you have an iPhone/iPod or GPS and cannot remove the battery, simply make sure it is all the way off, then put it in the rice bag. All electronic devices react the same to the rice trick.

Mobile in water not working now

Remove The Phone From The Water

The first step is to remove the phone from the water as soon as possible. The less time the phone spends submerged, the greater chance it has of being saved. The plastic covers that come with cell phones do provide some protection, but it takes a mere twenty seconds or less for water to get through these barriers and start causing damage to your phone.

Once you pull the phone from the water, remove the battery immediately. Cutting power is a crucial step when attempting to save a wet cell phone. There are many circuits inside cell phones that can survive getting wet, but only if they are not attached to a power source.

If your cell phone comes with a SIM card, remove it promptly. Do not heat the card, simply pat it dry with a soft towel, and put it aside until the rest of your phone is dry and back to working order. The good news is that SIM cards recover well from water damage. If for some reason, your phone doesn't survive the accident but the SIM card does, there are plenty of places that sell unlocked cell phones. Simply place your SIM chip into the new phone and go.

Salt Water Accident

Please take note; if your phone was submerged in salt water, you must rinse it in fresh water before the drying process begins. Even after the phone is dry, crystals can form and continue to cause damage and erosion.
Let Your Phone Dry

The next step you must take to save a wet cell phone is to allow the phone to dry. A great method in providing an optimum drying environment is to set the phone on the vent found on the back of a television set or cable box. The low heat emitted will gently dry your cell phone. Another trick to help speed drying is to place the phone in a bowl of dry rice. This will help draw out the moisture. You can also try placing the phone in a plastic baggie with a few silica packs that come in purchases such as shoes and electronics. Silica, like rice, absorbs moisture.

The important part of the drying process is to place the phone uncovered, in a warm, dry place and allow the moisture to evaporate completely. Another alternative is to place the phone on an air conditioner. The cold air will not damage the phone and the air from an air conditioner is very dry allowing the water to evaporate quickly.

Drying should take approximately three days at which time you can check to make sure the phone is clean and dry. It is at this time that you can re attach the battery and check if the phone works. If it doesn't, wait a few more days and try again. If the phone still doesn't work, take it to your local dealer, they may be able to repair it. Be prepared; getting a cell phone wet will void your warranty and most cell phones are equipped with a water damage indicator so the dealer will know the phone has been H2O compromised.

Alternative Drying Methods

There is an alternative way to save a wet cell phone that includes an alcohol soak. Alcohol is hygroscopic which means that it attracts water. Soaking your phone in denatured alcohol, or a 95% alcohol solution (regular rubbing alcohol is about 75%), soaks up all the water in the phone. When the liquid is dumped out, only alcohol, which will evaporate, remains. Make sure that the alcohol you use is denatured with only methanol as the chemicals found in other types can be damaging. This kind of alcohol can be purchased at your local hardware store. The alcohol soak may work best for phones that have been damaged by salt water or other liquids such as coffee.

Battery Caution

When attempting to save a wet cell phone, make sure you do not heat the battery as it could leak or even explode. Lithium-ion batteries are especially sensitive. In addition, many cell phones have plastic parts that can melt. Above all, do not try to save a wet cell phone by placing it in a microwave. You will destroy the electronic components and possibly the microwave in the process.

The above steps will help to save a wet cell phone, but be prepared. Often the phone will survive but the battery will not and the purchase of a new one may be in order. Good Luck!

I am unable to zoom in or zoom out while taking a picture with the help of trackpad

Hello,
Welcome to FixYa Solution:
Hope this will help you-Do the Following
With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot. IF you are having problems with multiple buttons/trackpad, then, it sounds like what I have seen multiple times on a device with moisture damage. [Water Damage]Even sitting on a bathroom counter during a hot steamy shower or bath can cause keyboard and trackball problems UNTIL properly dried out.
  • Remove the battery immediately!! Do not attempt to turn on your BlackBerry.
  • Let the device dry in a warm, dry place for 3 to 5 days
  • DO NOT "check it each day" by placing the battery in. Leave it be to dry completely. This takes time. Replacing the battery to check it can only damage it more (moisture + electrical current = Total Damage).
  • If the device is warm after the drying period, allow it to cool to room temperature before placing the battery back in.
Note:Suggestion on drying your BlackBerry in a warm place /Sunny area/Any warm Place-Don't TRY to High warm area-(open, with the battery out) OR Give it to Expert for Repair

I have a single draw Fisher and Paykel dishwasher. I stupidly put washing up liquid in the dishwasher which resulted in a F1 problem. Water started leaking under the draw and onto my floor. I turned the...

ok , F1 means your flood switch has activated, which is underneath the drawer. now they show the F1 fault because of 2 reasons.1st there is still water underneath drawer causing switch to activate. 2nd your activator board which has the flood switch attached is faulty reading your posting it has been about 15 days since the fault happened. the water should have dryed around switch by now. if there is power to the unit and it is still coming up with F1 fault then possibly you have damaged the activator board. please reply and tell me if you have power on or off at the present time. to fix the problem it is alittle bit involved but i can guide you thru it when you reply .good luck

My Samsung Eternity got wet - now the screen

Hi,

phone can be fixed.

The water that entered the phone has stayed in the phone for too long and it has affected the screen of the phone.

Even till now the water has not fully dried up in the phone and it might still get some other damages if not serviced to dry up the remaining water in it.

Unscrew the phone and use a methylated spirit and a brush to wash of the board of the phone.

After washing the board of the phone, put it under something to heat the board to dry faster and couple the phone back.

i will advice if you do not have the knowledge to fix up the phone, you can take it a mobile engineer to fix it for you in other to cause further damages to the phone.

Have a nice day.

The phone got wet and will not turn on

remove the battery and any cards ... then "cook" the phone at low temperatures .. no higher than 120 deg F .. stoves dont go that low but if your furnace is forced air and is on this time of the year you can put it over a heat outlet for a day or two ... or use some other source of warm dry heat (like a heating pad or electric blanket) ..adjust the temp for around 120 deg F .. be careful not to overheat it (that will damage the liquid crystal display ) .. dont put the phone i a plastic bag or other wrapping .. the idea is to hasten the evaporation of water trapped under components inside the phone ... the success will depend on how contaminated the water was ... pure or distiled water will not leave residue behind and the phone will likely work after drying .. really dirty water will leave lots of stuff behind and the sucess rate will be lower .. .. its important to dry the phone out soon before corrosion damages things inside .. sometimes we actually wash out dirty water with Deionized or distilled water before drying ... if you dissemble the phone then you can use "canned air" to blow out water from under things .. but that might get a bit complicated for most.. ... at 120 degF it can take up to several days to completely dry out the phone .. but results should be seen in one day ..

Motorola cellular 385 water damage

Ok to get the battery our you just have to slide the back cover down and walla pry that puppy out. To ficx the screen there are a couple options which may or may not work... You can take of the all the faceplates and try to use a blowdryer to dry everything off, or you can take of the faceplates and put the phone in a bag of rice for a couple of days(the rice will absorb moisture). you can try this with the faceplates on also but it would work better if they were off. I hope this helps a bit. GOOD LUCK!!!

Water damage

Remove the battery and let the unit sit for a day or two. It takes a lot longer to dry out than it seems. If it doesn't work after that amount of time, the water probably did permanent damage. The cell company's regular warranty covers defects, but their premium insurance should cover even water damage. If they don't cover it at all, the repair cost probably isn't worth it if you can get a deal on a new phone. Definitely worth a shot to call or stop in your cell company's physical store and chat them up.

Front Display

This seems to be a common problem. The same thing happened to me about 8 months ago. I'm still using the same phone, and I even have to carry around a list of contacts just so I can call people. I brought the phone into the Verizon store and they claimed it was water damage. The little water damage sticker thing didn't show that it was water damage, but they said there was corrosion inside the phone. I still don't believe that it was water damage, considering the number of people that had the same exact problem. I get to upgrade soon though, and I've learned my lesson - I'm getting the full coverage insurance. Just so they don't try to say it was water damage again, if anything happens, I'm just going to say it was stolen.
