Shut it off, wait a few, turn it back on, press all four corners with fingertips at the same time. If that doesn't re-set it, call Garmin. They're super helpful

First, be sure you are outside, in the open when making this diagnosis. Some cars have metallic defrosting layers, which blocks the GPS signal. If, when outside in clear view, you still have problems, try this...

Have you tried a hardware RESET? The button is hidden behind the front panel, which snaps off by a fingernail slot located directly under the GARMIN logo on the front panel.

* Use caution removing and reinstalling the front panel... it's somewhat fragile... wiggle it a little to get it off.

Press where it says "Press to Reset", hold for a second or two. Charge the unit with the car cord or USB cable, then try to turn it on again.

Once you can get the unit to (hopefully) turn ON, you should run all updates (there may be several!) using Garmin's Webupdater. (Connect to computer with USB cable first.)

Hope this helps!!

Sounds like it needs to be reset and download a new 'catalog' and time set. That will then allow it to figure out where it really is. Check your manual for doing a hard reset. Might involve pulling the battey or holding the power switch on that model. Do this someplace where it can see the sky ie preferably outside and then reset and let it download and rest itself. It can take up to about 45 minutes for it to finish but after that you should be back to knowing where you are.

My garwin 1300 keeps going to another state, I have done the reset of turning it off and holding the right lower corner and then resetting, I have driven the car out to a parking lot and kept it plugged in...

Try to find your own home address (which you'll want to label as "Home").

From the main screen, select Where to>Address.
Change the State, if necessary. This will make your state the default for future searches.
Touch "Spell City" and enter your city name or zip code.
Enter your house number, and touch Done.
Enter the street name, and touch Done.
Select the correct street on the list, if necessary.
Select it. You'll have the opportunity to Save your address as "Home".

Good luck.

My Garmin nuvi 1300LMT can't find my home address and my maps are updated....HELP!

I have a Garmin nuvi 1390 and live in the country, so my Garmin was unable to locate my address. I'm not sure if this will work on your model, but it may be worth a try. What I did is this: I turned on my Garmin at my house and let in acquire the satellites, I then went to the Tools menu and chose "Where Am I?" It should now display your location using longitude and latitude. If you can save this location and name it as "Home", or at the very least write down the longitude and latitude coordinates and then use the "Where To?" function, select Coordinates, type in the coordinates and save it. You should be able to save it with any name you choose.
Hope this helps.

I live in the city of Vancouver WA. It sometimes takes 5 minutes or more to locate a satelite. I have owned a Garmin-Nuvi 205 before and it always located a satelite immediatley. In fact, when I first...

Please be sure the Operating system is up to date.

Click HERE to download Garmin's WebUpdater.

Once installed - every time you connect your device to the PC, it will make sure it has the latest software for communicating with the satellites.

My garmin cant find satelite

Acquisition of satellites has been addressed in new firmware / system updates for the Garmin Nuvi 200W .

I can help you fix your Garmin Nuvi 200W.

There are three steps to take to get your Nuvi running like new:

  1. Back up your Favorites.
  2. Perform a Hard Reset.
  3. Download and then run Garmin WebUpdater to replace its firmware / system software.

I hope that helps.

My Garmin is stuck on my last destination.

Your Garmin's Home Location has been changed.
Solution: You must reset your Home Location.
Go to Main Menu.
Select: Where to?
Select: My Locations.
Select: Set Home.
(Message: A Home Location Already Exists. Do you want to change this location?)
A. If you are at your home location, select: Yes, use my current location.
B. If you are NOT at your home location, select: Yes, enter my Address. Enter your Home address.
Press "Save".

My garmin nuvii 200 is stuck on a foreign language

Ah ha, someone decided to play a little joke with your Garmin. (I've done the same with someone else's cell phone; set it to Portugese and they'll search for days to correct it!) Fortunately, all of the Garmins I've played with are typically icon driven menus. I'll assume you touched the wrench icon in the lower right corner to get into the setup display. From there, you should see icons for 'Map', 'System', 'Time', etc. If you don't see the 'Language' icon, use the down arrow to go to the next screen. If that doesn't help, I would do a factory reset and that should take you back to the factory settings.
