The compressor is hot and is tripping on overloads. Shut off, let cool off and after is cool see if it will start again. If it does start, check to make sure that it has a ful charge, and check for bad capacitor. There's a reason why it gets hot

Did you check to see if the compressor is running? Check out start relay/capacitor.

Fedders 208/230 split system w/ dual cap , compresser runs but fan wont unless you give it a push , compresser won't restart if relay is hot

All kinds of stutt happens when you dont have a condensor fan motor. You need to change the run cap on the motor.

Hi, I have an older mobil home with a Colman AC

Your unit uses both the capacitor and a contactor (relay) to start your compressor and motor. With the indications you are giving it would either be the capacitor or the contactor - and since you have already changed the cap - then replace the contractor!

NOTE: We always recommend that you change the capacitor and relay at the same time, because they seem to fail at about the same time.

I have a fedders a/c heating unit that I have been using for about 10 years without a problem. The A/C is now just blowing out air - no coolness. Do I just need to add Frion or can somethign else be wrong?

when you turn on unit can you hear the compressor kick on or is it just fan . I you can hear compressor kick on then most likely you do need a boost of freon but if you can just hear fan without compressor its either freon or compressor is bad or the little secret mechanics dont like to tell??? No joking check the wiring going to compressor pull off the cover where connections are and inside there is a little round surge relay that goes bad often. Its a 10.00 part at any local a/c supply company or you can just bypass that relay but make sure if bypassed that you have the run and start wire on the right peg the wiring diagram will show that if nothing else call a appliance company to come out and total repair bill if it is that relay should be 80.00 hope this helps

CONDENCER AND EVAPERATOR FANS BOTH COME ON WHEN CALL FOR AC. THE COMPRESSOR HUMS BUT WILL NOT START. UNIT HAS RUN VERY GOOD. THE COMPRESSOR WILL NOT COME ON UNLESS IT HAS BEEN OFF FOR 24 HRS.

It's either a bad run capacitor, start capacitor or start relay. More than likely if you have a thermostatic expansion valve it's a Start capacitor or start relay.

Where to connect three wires

You should have:

one wire from the compressor that will hook to "HERM".
one wire from the fan motor that will hook to "FAN"
one wire from the relay ("hot" wire") will hook to "C".

High Pressure cutoff

YOUR OUTDOOR FAN MOTOR SHOULD NEVER SHUT OFF IN THE AC MODE. IT IS SUPPOSED TO SHUT OFF IN THE HEAT MODE WHEN ITS IN DEFROST. IF THE UNIT IS RUNNING IN COOL AND THE OUTSIDE MOTOR QUITS ,THE COMPRESSOR WILL QUIT SOON AFTER. EITHER THE RUN CAPACITOR FOR THE FAN IS BAD OR THE FAN MOTOR ITSELF IS BAD, IF CAP IS GOOD THEN THE MOTOR IS At FAULT. THE OUTDOOR PRESSURE SWITCH CAN ALSO OPEN IF THE INDOOR FAN MOTOR FAILS IN HEAT OR THE FILTER IS PLUM NASTY in heat OR THE INDOOR COIL IS PLUGGED UP in heat.. THE PRESSURE SWITCH USUALLY TRIPS AT 400 TO 425 SO ITS WORKING CORRECTLY. YOU MAY BE CONFUSING THE ISSUE SAYING THAT THE AIR IS HOT AND COLD INSIDE. IT IS COLD WHEN AC IS RUNNING HOT WHEN HEAT PUMP IS RUNNING IN HEAT BUT ESSENTIALLY not cold or hot if compressor isn't running, but a lot of folks describe the lack of cold air as hot when the compressor isnt running. but it basically is warm or house air temp.you test the capacitor with a capacitor tester or take it to motor shop and let them test it. odds are its a 5 , 7.5 or a 10. it should test within 10 % of rated value . ask for a RESCUE brand replacement motor. they are great ,reversable etc.carefully oil and sand the motor shaft and note exactly where the blade was located in relation to the grill so you get it back just the same. usually they wire up black to a leg of 220 power. white to the other leg of 220 power. brown and brown with white stripe to the capacitor.you can also pull whole fan shroud assembly on some units and take whole thing to motor shop and let them test motor cap, replace and all you do is return to unit and connect two power leads,
