Bose Lifestyle 38 System Logo

My DVD player has had continual playback problems for many months. It skips and pauses often while playing back DVDs and CDs. These same CDs and DVDs play flawlessly in other (much less expensive) players in my home and car. I have used a lens cleaning kit, but have seen no noticeable improvement. The disc will often get stuck in the player as well, and it often takes unplugging the whole system to reset everything before it will finally release my DVD or CD. Often the DVD or CD will come out feeling extremely hot. What's your advice (besides boxing up the whole kit and kaboodle and sending it back to Bose)?

Hey,

You can use your Xbox controller as a remote control to watch media.
Here are the actions for each button:

My Sony DVD/VCR combo will play cds but not dvds. I took the top of the player off and I can see that the dvd spins but it won't play. It used to play everything very well but just stopped working...

Please clean laser lens with good quality cotton bud gently and check dvd disc playback, if still does not play, replace optical lens block.
Let me know model number of your Sony DVD-VCR combo to provide you optical laser block part number info.
Thanks.

DVD Player will not play DVDs Audio CDs play fine

Hi, all DVD players use a dual laser package, because the frequency (color) of the light emitted is different for CDs and DVDs. There are two possibilities here, either the DVD laser part of the dual laser package has failed, (most probable), or the connection to the circuit board has failed, (rare, but it has happened). It is always conceivable that there is a fault on the DVD playback part of the board, but this is incredibly rare. The probability of your successfully replacing the laser depends on your skill as an instrument technician.I as a qualified tech would only claim 80% success and lasers aren't cheap.

Jerky/Pausing DVD playback on 27" Akai DVD/TV Combo

I have seen many issues with these internal dvd players, I will recommend that you pick up a nice inexpensive walmart dvd player and hook it in to the red. green blue connections, that is really the best solution, the players in all these units fail within 4 years. hope this helps have a great weekend

Dvd player only plays some movies

it might be sevral reasons:
1. Check if region code is the same for movies you playing and DVD player
2. If you using video CDs or copyed DVDs, player might be preventing to playback those kind of discs, due to copyright laws or due to different speed settings for DVD player and discks you using (for intsrance you player can playback DVD/CD+R, and you using DVD/CD-R, or mximum allowed playback speed is 16 you using disk recorded at 24, but this is in case you using burned/copied CD/DVDs)
3. Check it lens is durty. For that use CD/DVD lens cleaning disk
($6 in Walmart, if you are in US)
4. Check if movies you are have the same coloring system, i.e NTSC for US
5. Check CD/DVD for scratches, some DVD players can not playback scratched disks
Please kindly let me know if my information was helpfull for you or you need more info
Good Luck
