Under Step Up > Set up Memory (last page of options) > Select Unlock.

I also had mine set up lock.

Basically that means there is an overload or some form of power issue with the machine.

Kenwood dnx 7100 shuts off sporadically
If it is shutting off and coming right back on I would defintley take another look at your ground connection. This is the most likley cause for the sudden turn offs. Especially if it comes right back on.

Call these guys at hifiaudio.com and purchase the SWC module that matches your vehicle (ask for Scroche brand). Once you purchase the SWC module, make sure you read the installation instructions two or three times before you install it. Once installed, these SWC units work great. I just completed the installation on my 2008 F150 with the Kenwood DNX-7100 and my steering wheel interface works perfectly.

Got the antenna plugged in to the head unit? It's the little 1" square black thing with the mini USB plug on it.

If you do have it plugged in then you may want to test the antenna by making sure it isn't being blocked by metal in your car. Just hold the antenna outside the car and see if you get reception then. If you do than you will have to relocate the antenna.
