SOURCE: I have a Carrier 38TKB air conditioner. Dies it use Puron?
Most carriers have a puron sticker on the outdoor somewhere. If not the o.d. unit should have a data sticker with model&serial #. Ampereage, voltage,(a lot of technical data, and somewhere should say "factory charge (r22 or r410a) ???ozs. freon. A 38TKB is not enough info to tell what it is. Some of the indoor coils will have a TXV (expansion valve) and if the sticker on it is green its r22 and if pink(ish) its 410a. And you can also get the compressor model # and do some research at local carrier/Bryant parts house if they will look it up for you.
