Make sure even thought the wires are the same color that your car color code also matches the color code of the Head Unit if not stock radio then the color code would be in your cars manual book or find it online in the image section of the browser you are using or better yet just order your self the radio adapter for your cars model for that type of head unit your installing or troubleshooting in your case and make sure all wires and positive wires are hooked up properly because some devices will not work if all the wires are not wired correctly meaning left terminal to left and right terminal to right speaker and positive and negative wires installed correct as well.. Chips fail, even for the best of us! If the preamp outputs are still fine, you can purchase a small 4 channel from Alpine for 100-150. About the same as a repair yet cleaner power. Check EBAY there's always good deals to be had!

There is an option in the unit itself to turn off the internal amplifier. If you push the 'menu' button, then go to the setup/settings menu, and then i believe it was under the 'general settings' tab. there's a option called INT IC or something. Make sure that is turned on.
