How do i connect my pc to my phillips home theatre system through an hdmi cable

The best way is to connect your laptop to a spare HDMI input on your TV first, then use the AUX OUT from your TV to the AUX IN1 of the Phillips Home theatre system using a standard RCA cable.
The only catch with this is that you will have stereo analog audio, NOT digital surround. However, by pressing the "SURROUND" button of your Phillips HTS remote you can switch the audio output to multi-channel surround, stereo or party mode.
What is the model number of the TV you are using?

How do you take of the dash paneling to install a new aftermarket cd player?

  • Disconnect the negative battery cable from the Jeep Cherokee battery with the 10 mm wrench.
  • 2 Remove the five screws on the top edge of the dash panel with a Phillips-head screwdriver.
  • 3 Pry the trim panels surrounding the climate control knobs away from the dashboard with the trim panel removal tool.
  • 4 Remove the trim panel that surrounds the headlamp switches (located to the left of the steering column) with a trim panel removal tool.
  • 5 Remove the two screws behind the trim panel that surrounds the headlamp controls with a Phillips-head screwdriver.
  • 6 Pull the dash panel that surrounds the stereo and covers the instrument panel of the Cherokee, away from the dashboard by hand.
  • 7 Remove the two screws from the stereo mounting bracket. One screw is on the bottom left corner, the other screw is on the top right corner. Each screw can be removed with the 10 mm socket and drive.
  • 8 Pull the factory stereo from the stereo mounting dock.
  • 9 Disconnect the stereo wiring from the back of the factory unit.
  • 10 Connect the Jeep Cherokee factory stereo wiring to a wiring harness adapter. Connect the wiring harness adapter leads to an aftermarket stereo. Slide the aftermarket stereo into the stereo mounting bracket and replaced two screws at the opposite corners with the 10 mm socket and drive.
  • 11 Replace dash panel that stretches across the top of the steering column.
  • 12 Replace the two screws at the top of the headlamp control switch. Replace the trim panel around the headlamp switch.
  • 13 Replace the trim panel that surrounds the climate control knobs.
  • 14 Replace the five screws on the top edge of the dashboard with a Phillips-head screwdriver.
  • 15 Replace the negative battery cable over the negative battery terminal and tighten the cable to the negative lead post with the 10 mm wrench

    Audio output on TV

Sounds like you have it hooked up properly. Be aware that if there is not a digitally encoded signal for surround sound [they don't always do that] you simply won't have surround sound. Usually there is a mode in your receiver/amplifier that will allow you to simulate surround sound. An example of that would be "theater" or "hall" sound. Try it with a DVD known to have surround sound encoding [most of them do] and see if it works that way. If it doesn't then check your owners manual for information about how to make sure that feature is actually turned "on".

Add 2 speakers outside on a 6 speaker surround sound and hear all

You won`t get surround sound mix with 2 speakers, you can have a 2nd zone but this will only play a "Stereo Sound" if you have that playback option with the SC-RT50, what you will need is a speaker selector switch or better known as an A & B switch, this will ideally run from the front left and right speaker output of the receiver into the A & B switch then run into each pair of speakers inside or outside, what is common nowdays are receiver that are known as 2nd zone connections where you can have 2 sets of speaker in different rooms, unfortunatly the SC-PT50 does not have this option.

Can't get the surround sound to play the rear speakers and small front speaker

Sounds like it's just in 2 channel stereo mode, only 2 speakers working out of 5 and a sub, look for a selector switch for switching to 5.1 surround, as far as the no video problem try replacing the cable for the video connection.

No sound when using dish or regular tv

This may be old news but just in case ...

Typically you need to consider the surround system as the central point for sound distribution (and in newer receivers, the distribution point for video signal as well). So you need to think of your TV and Satellite as sound sources and connect them to the IN side of your surround sound system. From the back of your TV then, look for the Audio OUT (commonly Red for right and White (or black) for Left. Connect these to the IN on the back of the surround system. Likewise for your satellite box. Then make sure you select the appropriate source on the surround system. If the system supports the video signal, you can route that as well. Beware that you'll need some sort of simulation (provided by the Phillips unit) to upconvert stereo to surround ... check the manual online. If you post model numbers for the Phillips and satellite units, we might be able to direct you more specifically (provided we can find manuals online)
