Hi,
I can't say exactly how many videos and songs you can get on that ipod because it varies on the quality of both. To get videos on the ipod you'll need to have them in a compatible format for the ipod, which is mp4. You can either download movie files as mp4's or you can covert movie files you already have with a program. Personally I recommend HandBrake. If you need anymore help just let me know =)
You just need to convert your DVD movie or video to mp4 video, and then you can drag the mp4 video into your iTunes library. Plug in your iPod to computer, iTunes will detect the iPod automatically, then click iTunes menu "File -> Sync iPod", that's all. If you need details, here is a step by step guide would help you a lot, it's easy to understand and works pretty well for me http://www.dvdintoipod.com/rip-dvd-movie-and-convert-video-to-ipod.html Hope it helps. There are two 5th gen iPods, A1136 model is the older 2005 model, not the later 2006 model.
Here is Apples link: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353#ipodfifth2 which will show the differences, but not by model number. The reason I know this model number is the first 5th gen 2005 is because I have one. Also older 2005 should have '2005' engraved on rear.
All you can really do is make sure the iPod is fully charged before watching. Video files require more system reosurces than music files, so it is very possible that it will run down in a couple of hours or less. There are no longer-lasting batteries that can be used with this particular mp3 player.
