Panasonic Microwave turns on and tray rotates when door is opened

We own a Panasonic "genius" 1300 watt Inverter microwave. It has worked fine until recently - it has now started to "turn on" whenever the door is opened.

Now, when you open the door the light comes on and the patter rotates and it makes the sounds like it is cooking. When it does this I am not sure if its really cooking, or just seems like it is cooking, so I unplug it to get the food out

It does stilll cook fine if you punch in the time and temp.and it stops when the desired time is up - but when you open the door, it starts up again.

Please help!

Check the door latch switch inside the oven. The 4 switches where the door hooks latch on to when the door is closed has to engage with the door hooks to tell the oven that the door is closed. loosen the 2 phillip screws that holds the switch assembly and slide it to adj. and ensure that the switches close when the door is closed.
Sometimes the switches go bad and cannot make contact and must be replaced. If you see that the connectors on the switch is discolored or overheated replace the switch, it is bad.

You have a faulty door switch, the unit is not supposed to come on when the door is opened only the light.This unit may require servicing as the control board may also be at fault.

In most cases, this is a problem with the inverter but it may be a bad magnetron.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.
