I am having a problem in that every time I turn it on,my Denon AVR-887 turns it self off about 30sec later. Is there some sort of setting that is doing this? How might I fix this?
Troubleshooting:
The Unit turns OFF it self after 10-30 sec.
Test:
- Detach 5pin cable which going from AMP Bar Code to HDMi PCB (Board)
-Turn ON the power of unit
If Unit will power UP and doesn't turn OFF.
Solution:
More chance malfunction HDMi board but for sure
have to test triodes of AMP Bar Code assy.
My AVR-887 IS SHUTTING OFF ALSO AFTER ABOUT 30 SECONDS.
I have one and the same thing happened. try resetting your microprocessor and if that does not work, then check the wiring of the speakers. if that is working fine and no wires are touching then I unplugged everything and was still having the issue. took it in for service and it was found that the transmitor was shorted as the speakers that I was using was too high in ohms. it is possible that it could be your caps also if resetting the microprocessor does not help. You can find out how to reset the microprocessor from your manual. If you have the Denon avr 887 with the system turned off hold the power on button and the speaker A and B at the same time for a few seconds. This is compatible to rebooting your computer. Hope this works for you as this was and is my husbands favorite past times.

mine is doing the same thing. I rebooted the microprocessor and this is the end result. shutting off and remaining on for approx. 10 sec then off
I have the same problem. I tried reseting the microprocessor, which reset, but didnt change anything. i turn it on, and it shits off in about 30 seconds. it will not stay on. i did a trial and error, its not plugged into anything and it still shuts off.
Tried to update firmware. Got message that update failed. Now every time it retries to update I get message that connection failed. I can't access anything now...it just keeps saying connection failed
