Trying to get channels above 42 to 99

As many others have, I bought a good cond. Phillips hotel TV. Turned it on, good picture and sound. I knew there was no remote so set up a universal remote.

What I didn't know was even though it is on my cable system, I can't get any channel above 42.

Any tricks ot ideas or solutions?

Thanks.

I had the same problem the solution is you have to get institutional remote and reset the tv from commercial mode to consumer mode and then you will have access to the full menu. go to www.phillipsitv.com to get the directions. I actually asked a Hotel could I borrow their master remote used it and took it back and my tv works fine. Hope this helps.

In the above post the website is www.philipsitv.com or just look up RC2573GR that is the institutional remotes model number.

Many older sets have an upper channel limit = 42,46,54,64,etc.
If you can't dial direct ...4-3 enter, 4-4 enter,etc...........
If you CAN dial direct, then you would need a service remote
to program.............becuz it's a hotel TV.........

Phillips 42PFP53320 42" Plasma TV. No picture,

Hello jporter...

welcome here in fixya..

That problem is one of the common problems of plasma TV (have sounds but no picture)..As a expert of flat panel for more than 5 years I already encounter that kind of problem many times..

Actually that problem is caused of either X,Y or Z sustain board or even both 3 boards are faulty..Because some models when the one of those boards have short circuit or bad there are possibility that other sustain board are affected..But most the problem like yours is "Y-SUSTAIN" board..

I can't find your model online please double check it it either Phillips 42PFP5332D/37 or 42PFP5532D/05

And for specific and easy way to find replacement please try to look at the part # of that board (it is usually printed on the sticker attach to the board itself..

Hope it helps and please don't forget to rate my answer..

Have a nice day!!!

regards,
Chester.

I have a Zenith Tv that I bought from a resale store after it had been used by a hotel. When the hotel had owned it they had programmed it to return to a specified channel every time that it is turned off...

there should be an auto program on the menu, but you can also download the complete manual for this model here http://www.retrevo.com/support/Zenith-B27A11Z-TVs-manual/id/277dj086/t/2/

Hotel TV remote

for phillips tvs that come out of a hotel try this code with RCA universal remote. the big remote not a small remote. 319753 followed immediately by the mute button. this will pull up the tv setup menu.

Sound bar only goes to #5 (low sound)

It maybe a model that is used in hotels and has a volume lock on it.You need to contact the manufacturer, or read the instructions on how to override it.

TV channels

If cable is hooked through cable box with a coaxial cable, then turn tv to ch 3 or ch 4 as appropriate.

If cable is hooked through any other type of cord (red/green/blue or red/white/yellow) use the AV+ or Source button to change your source to Av1, AV2, HDMI, or however you have the cable box hooked to TV (I am assuming your TV is a Philips).
