In short no as long as you get the correct seal type from a spares shop, or Whirlpool. Just make sure that it is straight and there are NO gaps or splits in it when you refit it. Usually these will come pre cut to size for the particular model of FF but you can also buy seal strip on a reel from many spares shops. Also when you have removed the old seal make sure that you use a degreasing cleaner to clean around where the old seal was located and make sure the area is dry before fitting the new one.

Ice lump build-up on left side of the lower back panel inside the fridge section of fridge freezer. Compressor is on continuously. Any help appreciated. Thank you.

Check the operation of the thermostat. Try raising the temperature og the refrigerator side and see if the compressor stops.

My fridge/freezer is frosting cos the rubbers shot x local repairman says he will not fix as "it never works"x can I replace them myself? difficult? x leroy

most places have a " seal-a fridge " type business that comes to your place and makes and fits door seals to fridges and freezers
check in the trade pages of the phone directory or go google and type in--- fridge door seals and repairs -- to see if there is a business close to you
the only problem that you may have is , if the door and seal edge area is badly rusted
if you can get a seal from a service agent spares and you have some ability you may be able to fit the new seal your self

Replaced freezer gaskets now not sealing well

Jay, Check to see if hinge can be adjusted so door closes tighter, may be a faulty door seal, or maybe it needs manipulated to soften, shape, stretch it to seal better. You can try the dollar bill trick between the seal and fridge to locate the problem/leaking spots. The bill should not pull out with out there being a little force, no force means seal is not proper in that area. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

Hi, I think the seal is damaged on my fridge freezer. It is a CB18m/1c/fan whirlpool fridge freezer. Where do i look for a replacement seal? Thank you

Is a package/or a shelf blocking the door? If a gasket is required & damaged it would be noticeably different than the look of the rest of the gasket. The door originally was held straight by the screws behind the gasket & a undamaged door liner(cracked with weight of packages will cause it to twist), if it is twisted than it can be realigned by twisting it straight & may have to loosen the screws a little first & then snug them back up after it has been twisted straight. Gaskets generally have a flat magnet in them to pull the door up to the body of the fridge & with a model number(or take the gasket to them is the worse scenario) can be obtained from a Major appliance store or they can order it.

Every time the refrigerator door is closed, the freezer door pops open. How can we better secure the seals?

My new freezer did the same thing. I contacted the company and they went into the whole leveling thing. What it has to do with is the magnetic seal. The magnets are not strong enough to keep the freezer door from popping open when closing the big fridge door. They share the same duct. I level my doors on the fridge and freezer so they swing shut by themselves after opening. Just the force of the big door when it swung closed cracked open the freezer door about a quarter of an inch and if left unnoticed created a puddle and made the fridge run overtime. I solved the problem by placing strong magnets inside the fold of the magnetic seal at the handle end of the door. This is the flap on the outside the door seal. I used six magnets on the top and six on the bottom. The magnets were from discarded Sonicare tooth brush heads. They are very flat and super strong. You can find something on ebay. My freezer door doesn't budge problem solved. I did call the company and told them I solved the problem and they still insisted it was the leveling. Good luck, Art Knapp
