I loaded a game and it took too long loading. I turned the system off and turned it back on. After doing so, my ps3 never even loaded the game. I ejected the game and reloaded it, and again, it did not even try to load the game. What's wrong?

  • gc_skillz Feb 17, 2008

my ps3 gets to the game menu but won't play the game

  • coultsk Jul 09, 2008

Purchased Bejing Olymics and had to upgrade to system software version 2.30 before it would allow me to play the game. Played it for a while then began playing gta4 again. Played that for a while too. Then all of a sudden everytime I try to play any game, it doesn't load - i just get the menu screen. I have since downloaded system software version 2.41 and have restored ps3 system (4 hours) and i still have the same problem.

Ive had my PS3 (60 GIG) lil over a year now. Everything else on my console works but , it WILL NOT play any games. The only Game that works without freezing is Gran Turismo 5 prolouge. The only thing i suggest is sending it back to Sony for 169.00 which i will not do.

  • t0k3 Feb 26, 2009

Ok, me consoile play CD's, DVD's, PS and PS2 games. But WILL NOT play a single ps3 game! I've tried everything from Simnpsons to Smackdown to Fifa 09 and not a single one of them will load what-so-ever!

    Any suggestions???

  • Anonymous May 10, 2009

  • Anonymous May 23, 2009

I had a problem where i was playing DMC4 and then after i turned it off to take a break, then came back, the **** won' t load. (well, after a few tries.) Not only that game, but any PS3 or blue Ray dvd. Ps2 is okay. (Obviously) This happened a while back, and its just getting more complicated.

    WHY?!?!?!

  • Anonymous Apr 24, 2013

For me it happed after i installed the game content of "Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires and added the online content, after a reboot with with those installed it stopped working.

What causing this is still a mystery for me, might be Software issues or old hardware.

This Worked for me:
(Got my save games backed up on a Memory-stick.)
1. Restore PS3 system.
2. Reboot when done with the Restore.
3. press and hold the Eject in 12-15 sec (with no dicks in it.)
4. Reboot again. (its important)
5. Insert game
6. play

There is no way to fix this problem or any problem for the PS3. The only thing you can do is call sony, pull your pants down, and pray that they use K-Y as they RAPE you. $150.00 to be exact!

This happened to us also. I couldn't even turn off the PS3 the right way. What I did was push and hold the power button until i got three beeps, the PS3 told me to connect my controller to the unit and press the ps button. After which, there was a menu.
1. Restart
2. Restore Default Settings
3. Restore Files (or something along that lines)
4. (something.. can't remember reformat?)
5. ?
6. ?

I pretty much just went in order. I started with the 1st thing and got to the 3rd. It then told me that my harddrive was corrupt and it fixed it and started loading after that.

The problem I'm having NOW is that I can't get it to play the downloaded games we bought. I don't want to buy them again... Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Welll My games won't play at all. Like I have black ops and when it is inserted inside my ps3 it won't even show up on the main screen. It then makes a noise like it wants to come out but it then goes back in. I usually just keep taking it out and putting it in. Lol.. anyways.. After about an hour and 30 mins it finally works. Are there any solutionsssssss?

I have a similar problem. - system reset does not fix it - already has the latest firmware - disk format did not fix the problem If it is out of warrenty (mine was) its a flat $150 from Sony to fix it. Lots of folks suggest software fixes but there is at least a class of these issues that is clearly hardware.

It just happened to me as well today but all i cant find about how to fix the problem is to take it back to the shop and get a new one-i know its not really a "how to fix it" but unless you want to break it open and have a go cutting wires id just return it for a new one and hopefully the shop wont charge.

60GB PS3 will play PS1 and PS3 games but not PS2.

this is a problem with some ps3's especialy the high GB ones like mine. they made it so most if not all of the ps2 games cannot be played to cut down on price and to leave room for all the memory. so you can still play ps1's but you cant play ps2's. sorry

From what I understand its a problem with the backwards compatibililty(the engine/drive that lets you play ps1/ps2 games)on the 60g.Sony says they have never heard of this problem yet these models are no longer in production.I have had mine for 2 years and it died today, same problem.

My PS3 now will not play PS3 games but still plays PS2 games

You're blu-ray drive has partially died. It's a three part laser (cd, dvd, blu-ray). The most important part of yours has died that's why you can still play dvd and PS2 games because they use the dvd laser and not the blu-ray.
