make sure you are getting 220 volts to the unit. Sounds like contactor not engaging.

Shut the power off to the unit, spin the fan blade to see if it spins freely. If it doesn't spin freely, (there appears to be a little drag when you spin it),the bearings are bad, if it does spin freely, then try moving the motor shaft from side to side if there’s any play in the shaft side to side then the bearings are worn and motor needs replaced. Then, check the capacitor, if it’s bulging even slightly, the capacitor is bad and needs replaced. Most of the time people replace the capacitor if motor seems ok. If capacitor is ok, turn power on to see if the motor is getting the proper voltage, if it is and not trying to run, then the windings are probably open, the motor's bad and needs replaced.

My Hawaiian Breeze Tower Fan was working just fine, Then the motor just stopped. It's getting power, i.e the lights are on but nothing to the motor. It's a Model FS10-S4R. Any ideas?

The light and fan are on separate lines. Make sure you have your circuit breaker off. Check the wire connection to the fan control switch and from the fan control switch to the fan motor. If the connections are good undo the connections to the fan speed control and test the control switch itself. The control is more likely to fail than the motor.

Our hear pump digital display is working but the top fan doesn't seem to be working.we have been away from the UK for and the unit has not been used for a while so cld that be the reason?

If you are talking about the top fan of your outside condensing unit, it could be several things. The fan motor could have failed, the run capacitor could have failed, or the motor is not getting power. Most units have a contactor that turns on the fan and compressor at the same time. If you only have one contactor, the fan motor or capacitor has failed. If you are good with a meter, check to see if you have voltage on the fan leads AFTER the contactor. If you do, I would recommend replacing the fan motor and capacitor

What is code 67 on a LG PTAC

Hi Jason, The link below is a web page, Click the 4th down for an LG Ductless HVAC & PTAC Error Codes manual.....
https://www.google.com.au/search?q=LG+PTAC&oq=LG+PTAC&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i61&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#q=LG+PTAC+error+codes

Code 67 ODU fan motor not rotating or proving rotation. Verify fan motor plugged in correctly & fan rotates freely. This can be a failed motor, failed board or motor could have failed and caused board failure as well. Verify 310V DC on motor wires separated by empty terminals on plug with motor plugged in, 0V DC = failed PCB, 310V DC = likely failed motor. Next step: Unplug motor and manually spin the fan (keep it spinning): on same wires you just tested, 0V DC indicates motor failed and caused board failure. 14-30V DC indicates a good motor

Why is my 2005 equinox condenser fan not working?

Two possibilities:
1. The switches in the A/C system aren't turning it on, or
2. The fan fails to run when it has power due to blown motor.
To test find the motor to the fan and pull the power plug off it and make a fused jumper wire fused to the fuse size in the system test run the motor directly with power from the battery. IF the fan fails to run it is the fan motor, if it runs than, it is the A/C system controls that failed.

Air Conditioner problems

Your fan or more likely the fan motor mounts have failed and the fan is out of balance. Replace your motor mounts before the motor fails too and the repair cost doubles.

Fan comes on but will not blow cold air

This fan has a blower motor which will eventually fail.
The fan will still oscillate , but the blower motor will burn out. The motor thermal fuse will fail , lower bearing failure and armature burn out. No replacement motor less than fan price so, when it goes buy a better longer lasting fan.

1987 Eldo cooling fan not working correctly ? Have replaced relay, thermostat & sending unit.

Hi. I would check that fan circuit to be sure of its integrity. Use the procedure below to troubleshoot:

1.Check for broken wires or loose connectors around the fan circuit. Inspect connectors at the fan motor, relay, sensor or heat sensitive switch, and the Electronic Control Module (ECM)--your car’s computer control system. Also, make sure to check for a possible blown fan fuse. These are common and overlooked troublesome spots that may cause a fan to fail.

2.Run and bring the engine to warm temperature. With the engine running, use a voltage test light to check for power to the motor fan. Be extra careful and make sure to keep your hands and tools away from the belt, fan or any other engine moving parts. If voltage is reaching the fan motor, the test light should glow.

3.Turn off the engine after you see the light glow. Apply direct voltage to the fan motor from your car battery using a pair of spare wires. If the fan fails to operate, replace the fan motor. If the motor operates, your problem is in the motor connector.

  • NOTE_ If you suspect a defective ECM take your vehicle to a service shop for a computer analysis. In most cases, the ECM is rare to be the cause of a failing fan. The above steps should take you to the root cause of your problem and help you fix the cooler fan.

This is Typical around this YEAR, if the Blower Resistor Is ok they should give you a Few Years service. The VOLTAGE READINGS Are GOOD that your Friend Checked. Be Sure the GROUNDS are RENEWED on these Vehicles as POOR GROUNDS are Pretty Typical for failure also around that Year
