Clogged printer head on Kodak 5300

I've done the normal maintenance (many times), but the yellow will not print. Is there any thing I can do to unclog the printer?

The problem started when I did not use the printer for a few weeks.

Call Kadak Customer Support. They will send you a replacement print head. I have already had to do this twice in about a year and a half. Tell them that you have run all of the tests or they will have you try it again. But in the end they will send you a new print head in a couple of days. This is the only thing that will work.

I dont have a solution except to get a new printer. This one is a piece of junk. It works great for awhile, now wont print anything, even with new cartridge, taking print head out and replacing, deep cleaning...forget it nothing works. Also a big minus was having to print off your own manual which is ridiculous.

KODAK 5300 PRINTER IS PRINTING PICTURES WITH A PURPLE TINT TO THEM

Kodak EasyShare 5000 series

Clean the print head then print a demo sheet.

  1. Verify that inkjet paper is loaded in the paper trays.
  2. On your desktop, start the KODAK All-in-One Home Center, then select the Help [?] icon.
  3. From the Help menu, select Maintenance, then select Print head Cleaning. The On/Off light flashes green during the cleaning procedure.
  4. When the On/Off light glows a steady green, press Photo and Copy simultaneously to print a demo sheet.

If the Demo print is bad- IE: no black, blurry print etc., then you may need to replace the print head:

I replace my Black ink with new and it will print only a few times then the black streaks and then stops working. I clean the heads and it don,t help. Change to another new black ...same thing print a few...

This issues looking printer head problem. check the following Steps for cleaning printer head :

Click on the Start button if you have Windows XP. If you have Windows Vista, click the Windows icon that resides in the lower left corner of your computer screen.

Click on "Control Panel," then "Printers and Other Hardware." Finally click on "View Installed Printers or Fax Printers."

Right-click on the name of your printer and choose "Printing Preferences." This should open a new window; next look for a tab or button marked Maintenance, or something similar.

Find the button that says "Print heads" or "Clean the Print heads" and click on it. You may be asked to choose which print heads; choose them all if you are. Make sure there is paper and ink in your printer, and that it is turned on ahead of time.

Take out the page your printer has printed and see if there are any grids or boxes missing. If there aren't, then you can just exit the program--your print heads are not clogged. If there are grids missing, then click on the "Cleaning" or similarly worded button.

Once the cleaning process has completed, print another page to be sure that your print heads are no longer clogged. If they are still clogged, repeat Steps 1-5 until your printer is printing clearly.

My kodak 5300 is printing poorly. one line will be normal and the next line will be real light...anything i can do..i have new ink and have tried all that i can think of... thanks

Here is a page for your software drivers and a firmware upgrade.
HOWEVER...This looks like the print head may be clogged. Try a deep clean cycle in the printer menu.
If any ink has been allowed to run out, or the printer has been idle for more than a 6 months, the print head is probably no good. Contact Kodak regarding a new print head.

My printer print heads are not functioning properly. I replaced both cartridges with Kodak cartridges but the print heads don't seem to be printing. Copies are very light with little color. I tried to...

Print heads can become clogged with dry ink, especially if head is left exposed for a long period of time, i.e., no cartridge is in place. You can either have the printer serviced (which will cost a lot) or google print head cleaning. There are several companies which sell head cleaning kits for most printers for about $10. Detailed instructions with illustrations are usually provided. I've done this myself and for $10 was able to repair an old HP deskjet.

I have a Kodak Easyshare 5300, Also came for Christmas new without manual. I went to print and the color is showing half full. The yellow isn't printing. So I replaced the cartridge and still yellow isn't...

Remove print head and cartridges.
Soak in a solution of 15-20% ammonia warm water solution for an hour.,
Completely dry head especially the electrical contacts.Run a nozzle check and see if yellow is now appearing.
If not completely showing yellow but better either soak again or do a nozzle clean until satisfied.
Thanks for using FixYa!

Kodak easyshare 5300 pics come out very dull with a green cast

Hi! I think there is some problem with colour adjustment of your printer. Under printer settings check out weather the cyan, magenta and yellow colors are all set to zero level and are at same position.
Also check out the exposure. And about dullness in the photographs i would suggest you to use a imaging software such as photoshop.

BLANK PAPER IS COMMING OUT

Most likely your print head is clogged, there are 2,000 some nozzle's in it. If the printer is not used for a moderate amount of time the ink can dry up and cause a clog in those nozzle's. You can try reseating the ink cartridges(take them out turn off power, unplug printer, power back on & wait for it to get done making noise) then proceed doing a printhead clean from the main menu, or homecenter->?->maintenance. Then after that do a calibration, print a demo sheet to see if there is any improvment. The printhead clean pushes ink through the nozzles to try to clear clogs. The calibration scans those nozzles to see which are avalible to use, and makes sure that all the avalible nozzles are being used. If this does not fix the problem you most likely need a printhead but you will have to call kodak; as they are not avalible in stores. Also you can try updating your firmware from kodak home center, or www.kodak.com/go/downloads
