Inherited brand new meade 114 DS telescope, put it together, but how the heck do you take off the dust cover of the main tube...I simply cannot figure it out! the customer care center not open yet, any help would be appreciated (have never had or used telescope before.) Thanx in Advance!

You will not find a manual for that telescope brand. However Meade telescopes has a web site with all of their telescopes--

You can call Meade but I doubt they would have parts. If the lens is cracked FORGET IT! It's not worth fixing.

the eye piece that came with your scope is too powerful... look on ebay or a site that sells telescopes. also look at the size of your eye piece holder... my ds-114 came with a 0.96 holder, these are an odd size.. the other size is 1.25 and the eye pieces are much easier to find. try looking at the moon when it is cresent shaped and start from there. if you have the autostar, you have to go through a set up sequence to start. then the scope will track the objects that you select on the goto function. don't give up!

screw the sheild off its a lense protector

ds-2000 refers to the model line of the scope. ds-2130 the 130 refers to the diameter of the objective lens in mm. I have a ds-2114. Where the objective lens is 114 mm in diameter. as far as the manual goes everything else should be the same.
