Someone got a really bad static shock off the fax machine yesterday. Now the keypad isn't working. There is a dial tone on the handset, and we can receive faxes, but no buttons are working.

Most garage openers have a reprogram button on the lift motor. You push the button on the motor and enter in the new code on the keypad but you only have a really short time to set it so get someone to push the button from a safety ladder and you can set the code. You hit program and then push your code numbers.
Something is causing a short on the keypad bus. It could be wiring, or the panel could have had a power surge. There is also a jumper on the main alarm panel board that could be shorted. Open the panel, and make sure there is no connection between the pins in the middle of the board marked RESET. If that isn't the issue, pop the keypad off the wall and make sure that there isn't a connection between the yellow and green wires. The wires are on a harness connected to the back of the keypad, so follow them back far enough to see where they connect to the wire going to the panel.
Hi, you have a keypad problem here. First try pressing the cancel/off button for 5 seconds. If the code is still there, disconnect the power for about a minute and connect. If the error returns you will have to get someone to disconnect the keypad ribbon cable from the main board, clean the end with an eraser and re-connect it. Re-apply the power and see if the error returns. If the error returns, probably a bad keypad. E0-F2= stuck or shorted keypad....

Most office machines are properly grounded and don't suffer from static problems as severe as this. The machine is not repairable. Before you replace the machine, make sure that your electrical outlets are properly grounded. Then buy a line conditioner that will protect against this.
