Hey,

Take the battery out of the phone and locate the sim card. Remove the sim card and get an number 2 pencil with a good eraser and use the eraser on the gold contacts on the sim card lightly to clean up any corrision that built up on the contacts ( it will look black) . If that doesnt work go to your cell phone providers store your sim card got fried. they can set u one up for like $25

    Thank you SO much. I didn't use an eraser; I rubbed it on my shirt & also rubbed the contacts on my battery. It worked fine after that!

    My phone keeps going off every 5 minutes even with a new battery..phone is TM 506 and sim card is at least 7 years old...this is my second 506 and both phones did the same thing...will this sim card fit into the tm 717?

Suggest remove the battery and then the sim card then reinstall the sim card and the battery and power up.

If you havent used your phone for a long time then you sim will be disconnected.
You need to call your service provider, sometimes the can reactivate it if has been unregistered for a short time.
If it has been a while, then you will have to purchasea new sim card, although you should be able to keep your old number if required.

The fault is from your Sim card. To be sure, test your phone with another Sim card and see it the same problem will occur.

Contact your network provider to fix the problem or to replace the Sim.

Only two possible things could be there troubling you either you are using CDMA Sim on your GSM cellphone or you are using a SIM which is outdated.

Invalid sim
Invalid SIM and Unregistered SIM are two different problems. Invalid SIM means the phone is locked to a certain company and you are trying to use a SIM card for another company. Unregistered SIM means the SIM card you are using is not active and you need to contact your service provider to get it activated. In order to unlock the phone so you can use anyone's SIM, you must contact the provider that the phone is locked to.
