According to your problem you want print a business card and face the with font size & background
colour. It may caused your printer settings.

# First check your paper size in your printer propreties. It must be visiting card size.
# check printing resolution.
# printing quality in printing preferences should be suitable for a card printing.

for your second problem find the background graphics option in your printer properties and set it
properly.

check the ink level, if ok then reinstall the driver it sud work ok, if not then reinstall the os

From the printer, print the Troubleshooting Print Quality Pages.
With Troubleshooting highlighted, press the OK button.
Scroll to Print Quality Problems by pressing the Up or Down Arrow button. Press OK.

Scroll to Troubleshooting Print Quality Page. Press OK.
Evaluate the Light Stripes Test page for missing printhead jets (missing cyan, magenta, yellow or black color bars).

Clean the maintenance unit's wiper blade and empty the waste tray. A dirty maintenance drawer wiper blade can cause white lines and weak or missing printhead jets. Using a clean lint-free cloth or a paper coffee filter, gently clean the blade with a wiping motion across the entire length of the wiper blade.

check the wright cartridge model you installed and well pluged to the printer

if it is ok

try to change printer properties and fix it correct options with there tabs ( ex: paper, print quality etc)

Note: If the image quality option is not displayed, refer to configure the printer with the correct PostScript Printer Description (PPD) File Below. Configure the Printer with the Correct PostScript Printer Description (PPD)
Note: The steps below are only necessary if the Image Quality option is not available in Macintosh OS X. The PPD file contains features a particular printer supports such as TekColor Corrections. In order for the TekColor Corrections and other printer specific features to be available, the correct PPD file must be specified when the printer is installed. To ensure the printer is configured with the correct PPD file:

1. Open the Print Center (for OS 10.2.2.x) or the Printer Setup Utility (for OS 10.3.x):
   1. Open the Hard Drive.
   2. Open the Applications folder.
   3. Open the Utilities folder.
   4. Open the Print Center or Printer Setup Utility.
2. With the Print Center or the Printer Setup Utility open, select the appropriate printer from the printer list, then click Show Info from the Printers menu.
