Magellan roadmate 300 wont turn on!

I plug my magellan roadmate 300 in and it wont turn on. I checked the fuse and it is fine. Any solutions?

    I plug unit into wall, I get 12.0vdc from the wall, i try testing unit but i have no scehmatic. I try the usb for 5 vdc but not sure where to tets that also. Magellan will not turn on.

    Any hint on test points for either the 12 vdc or 5 vdc USB?

    I have found the plug for the Magellan 360 but it costs $16. This should only be a few dollar part. Is there another part number or website where I can find it cheaper?

I think the problem is with the internal power jack which tends to break. the part is MG361213 and is available at laptopjacks.com. You have to take the Unit apart and remove the old jack and resolder the new one which is a three pin unit.

I have the same problem using the car or ac jack. I don't want to hot wire it to the unit but I might have to. When the cord is moved the 360 powers off and at time blows the fuse in the car plug.

My magellan roadmate 1212 will not stay on unless plugged into
if its not charging the battery, the meter will say full even though the battery is dead..its a very common problem with alot of gps with the usb as a charging port. my solution is if this is still under warranty, i would send it back to magellan or where ever you bought it, because sooner or later the usb port is going to totally fail and wont even start up if plugged in and your going to be left with an expensive paper weight.

It is the cigarette adapter, mine was doing the same thing until I bought a new adapter. When the old adapter plug to the GPS unit moved at all it would lose power.

You'll have to obtain a copy of the Magellan Roadmate manager disks, load them into your computer, connect the GPS to your computer using the USB cable and the use the "Roadmate Manger settings" to change the language.

check the fuse in the plug - usually a ring around the end that unscrews and the fuse and a small spring will be inside the small metal pin that sticks out the end. Hope this helps, please post again if not :)
