No ignition and E04 Code

I get the E04 code, but my fan on my Mimimax NT 400 is running fine. Start-up sequence seems fine. Heat LED comes on, a tiny squeak sounds like the gas valve opening, LED goes out after about 5 seconds, and there is no ignition. Fan keeps going strong through this process until heater eventually shuts down and displays error code.

Checking at night, there is no glow at the burners to indicate that ignitor functions. There are to probes that extend into the firebox area. One over burner 3 with two wires (counting left to right) and one over burner 4 with one wire. Which is the sensor, and which is the ignitor? Thanks!

The HSI (ignitor) has 2 wires, its like a cigeratte lighter, power is applied and it heats then glows red, the single wire you mention is the flame sensor, used by the control board (igntion module) to ensure the burner has lit or it shuts the power to the gas valve off but keeps the fan operating for a period of 1 hour till it resets.

It sounds like your ignitor is defective, it happens often, depending on your location, you may be able to purchase one, but I would advise having a service tech do it.

Fan runs, no ignition, no gas smell. E04 on LED. The fan is running louder than normal, but the heater was working up until today.

Code E04 is a fan issue. It might be the fan, a tube or the pressure switch. I hope this helps.

E04 comes on after fan purge cycle-Pentair minimax nt pool heater

This is a fan falure code. It can mean the fan has problems (not likley if the fan goes and isn't labored) You have a sensor in your exaust (probally not this if you don't get a good start) The culperet is probally in the negetive pressure sensor. This is a 2-3 inch disc with wires going to the controls and a rubber tube going to the fan. Pull the tube from the fan and make sure the fan fitting is clear (poke with a tooth pic) Be sure their are no kinks in the hose. If the heater is 4 years old the diaprahm could be bad in the pressure sensor. Check the other things first but this is probally your problem. Good luck, hope this helped.

I have a pentair minmax nt, natural gas heater. I am getting the E04 message. I know its a fan failure but I hear the fan fine. When I start it, and look at all the LED's in the back, all are lit up except...

This problem is most likely caused by a damaged vac tube or bad vac switch. Check those first. The hose/tube may have been damaged, especially if you have any mice running around. It's most likely the vacuum tube, the switch is not as likely to fail but it's wise to make sure both are serviceable.

Pool heater will not heat

Im no pro, but I know there is an air sensor behind the main board. If the fan is running you probably have a problem with that sensor. If your lucky the air hose could have just popped off.
