You can connect it to a computer via USB and install the necessary drivers/programs or you can take the SD card out of the camera and put it into a card reader which connects via USB and get the photos off that way.
If it was just a driver problem you'd see a little icon on your taskbar. Depending on your OS it might already have generic USB drivers for your camera. Looks to me like a USB cable or camera problem.
"Change batter pack" means your battery is dead. The camera should have come with a charger in the bok that can plug into the outlet in your wall. It uses a lithium ion battery, so you can't use a regular AA batter charger, for instance. You cannot charge the battery via the usb into your computer.
Easiest way...use a separate card reader to download to a folder you create on your desktop. From there, you can import to imovie or use Quicktime to view it.
Hello. If you mention the exact powershot model,I may be able to provide better help. Since I don't know your model, I can tell you to go to: www.camerasandparts.com since they specialize in service for the canon powershot digital cameras only. They're amazing if you need help with one of these and they have the no power fix for every powershot right there on their site. I hope that helps, that's the place if you need help with a canon. Good luck with it.
A quick look on Cnet reviews says the specs for battery and power are:
Power
Power DeviceBattery charger - External
Battery
Supported BatteryCanon NB-4L
Supported Battery1 x Canon NB-4L Li-ion rechargeable battery ( Included )
An NB-4L battery charger is what you need to charge the battery for that model. My Canon charger is a small box with fold out wall socket prongs and a mount for my battery to slip into.
This looks like a Generic version sold on eBay, that includs a Euro/mexico Socket adapter.
thankyou
