just pop the top/lid up with a flat head screwdriver and if you dont see a belt wrapped around the tub then it is broke. if it is there pull up on it to see if it is tight or slipped off!!!
If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.
if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....
If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.
I have a ruud gas pack, the blower fan wont come on. If we go out there we can spin it and she will run, but when the time shut off, so does the fan.. and it wont restart
either the motor is defective or the drum belt is broken or off the pulleys, if you can't hear the motor start and run w/o belt attached and it just buzzes the motor start cap could be bad
what do you mean, does anything work? if not chk incoming power for 240 volts if motor is not working chk mtr start capacitor, if element doesnt heat chk hi-limit switch, thermal fuse in element circuitry
check breaker first it will run with the breaker tripped but it wont heat so turn off and on then check dryer for heat.dryers have a thermal fuse when they go bad it wont heat they are located on the element cage and are smaller than the thermostats.and if that is good then most likely element.but it usually helps to know what brand?
it could just be the motor going out some dryers only last 6-8 yrs some dryers continue to be quite even if there going out i suggest call a repair preson to see if repairing it is worth it
