One of the baffles broke off the tumbler and need to replace it

I am not sure how much of the Maytag dryer mde3500 needs to be dismantled to get the drum out and screw in new Baffle. Do I need a major repair guy or can I figure it out on my own. It is not an electric problem just a screw in one so should not be impossible...right?

I will give it a try. Hopefully don't run into any trouble getting front and top off. Ordered new baffle and waiting for part. Not sure size of screw to buy yet either. Suppose once take all apart I can use the old one to match it. Thanks

Correct no repair guy neede unplug the unit so you dont get electrocuted happen to me once dont let it happen to you. remove the front panel than undo two screws at top of cabinet to release the top rotate the drum so the baffel you are replacing is at the 12 oclock position insert the baffel rub the screws thru the factory holes at top of unit if the holes are stripped dont be afraid to throw a washer in with the screw and dont over tighten because they will stripp out the plastic baffel . reasemble and your done takes about ten minutes

Broke fins/tumblers

This is an easy fix. You need to pop the top of the dryer up to do so. Depending on the model you may have to take the front off (older models), or just locate the clips located on the left and right side under the lid, and with a flat head screw driver push them in and lift up. (newer models). After you have the top up, located the baffle thats broken and install. Keep in mind that if the baffle is loose its more than like the hole where the screw goes is stripped and the whole baffle should be changed.

Need to replace a baffle that broke off . MED9800TKo model baffle broke off insde on the dryer drum

Remove the top panel to access the outside of the drum where the baffle securing screws are found. Remove the three hex-head screws from the rear flange of the dryer's top cover the lift the rear of the cover and slide it back so the tabs clear the catches on the bracket and remove the cover from the unit.

Turn the drum until the baffle screws are on top then remove the screws and the baffles. Install the new baffles then the top cover. Make sure that the tabs slide under the bracket catches when you reinstall the top cover. The top cover screws have nylon flat washers on them. Be sure to use these screws when you reinstall the top cover.

How to repair paddle inside drum paddle that fell off

To replace this "paddle" (It's callde a baffle), you'll need to access the outside of the tumbler (drum), by lifting the top.

Begin by removing the door. Remove the two hinge screws. You will then be able to rock the door and hinge out of the slot in the front panel. Next, remove the cover plates just opposite the hinges.

Now you can pull the front panel off the retaining clips and rock it downward, away from the rest of the cabinet. Once it clears the top, you can lift it off the bottom hooks. Just set it aside.

You will now see two screws (hex-head, 5/16 inch), just under the corners of the dryer top. Remove them and rotate the brackets that hook into the top. Removing the brackets will allow you to now swing the top upwards to expose the tumbler.

Just turn the tumbler until you can see the screw holes for the babble holding screws. You may get lucky and find the three baffle screws in the bottom of the cabinet. Re-install, check the others, and re-assemble the dryer in reverse order, and you're done!

I know that I am asking this for the third time; however, on the other two I forgot to notate the make and model. Again, after I opened the top of the dryer, there were no coins, it seems to be the screws...

If the screws holding the baffles just came out of the baffles or if the baffle broke they can be reinstalled. If the screws have ripped though the drum, the drum will need to be replaced. The screw part number is 33002973. The short baffle part number is 33001755. The tall baffle part number is 33002032. If you need the complete drum it is part number 33001889. Below are the instructions on how to replace the drum. Parts can be ordered from this link.

below is a link to the service manual for the info u need to take aprt or replace the dryer drum on a Maytag Neptune, I suggest u print it and then enlarge it if u can read it.

Short baffle is loose

You can pop the top with a drywall putty knife there is two tabs on each side. This will allow you to access the drum. Then tighten the screws holding the baffle in place.

Grinding noise from under tumbler

One of the retaining rings on the motor clamp/drum bearing assembly had probably broken, the machine must be taken apart to access to the motor/bearing assembly and fix the part.
The job should be done by a technician.

Using the machine in this condition can cause more damage to motor/ drum bearings.

Here is the diagram.

here you can buy the parts.

Loose Tumbler Fin In dryer

most maytag dryers have push type clips that hold the top to the front. look between the top and front with a light and find them about 3-4 inches from the outer edges. once you get the top up then there will be screws that hold the drum baffles to the drum. just put a new screw in them and all will be ok. no need to replace them, just use new screws.

Scraping sound on left side as it goes around

You need to replace the tumbler guide rubber wheel. I would suggest to avoid further issues, replace all base guides.

It requires dismantling the Dryer.

A tumbler fin

This isn't much help, but those fins will break off. I have had them break off. I am ordering some new ones, called "baffles" and will be installing them. I hope I can the top open on the machine.

Maytag Neptune Dryer

the top cover is fastened by spring like tabs on the machine rear. the front edge of the top merely clips to the front panel. the top needs to be removed to gain access to the bolts that hold the front panel on. these are inside the top corners of the machine. once these are out, the front cover should just pull up to remove. there may be a light connection and the door switch wires here too. then you can get to the screws that hold the baffles in place.
