1966 Mustang. Driving in 90-100 degree heat. Starts great when engine is cold, but when it gets hot, car will die instantly (no warning, just shuts off). Usually starts right back up, but sometimes struggles. In addition, after engine is hot and car sits a few minutes, it struggles to re-start. Mechanics have said I do not have an ignition problem. I've researched ''vapor lock'' and heat-related problems concerning fuel and am leaning towards that. Fuel is visually bubbing in the glass filter. Looking for help. Thanks!

It is running too rich, when the engine is cold it can handle the extra gas, but when hot it cannot, re-tune the carb.

1996 mustang dies and then will restart in a few minutes

Hello
The engine and transmission in this cars drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM (Power Train Control Module). Whenever a problem like this occurs the computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this, like the fuel pump for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL THE DIAGNOSIS & TESTING IS COMPLETED.

1989 mustang shuts off when hot

Sounds like fuel vapor lock. The fuel gets hot and changes from liquid to gas before entering the cylinders.
Look for metal fuel line bent and touching hot engine part, or no longer in its clamp. You might also insulate the fuel line with pipe insulation from Lowe's or Home Depot.

86 mustang 5.0 fuel injected. At cold, starts great and runs stong and firm. After driving about 10-15 mins it starts sputtering and wants to lope and die at idle. Driving, it hardly idles at a stop and...

Your fuel air mixture is wrong. Just like a choke. When it is cold it dumps more fuel in, when it warms up it is supposed to mix in more air. It does not seem to be doing this. You need to have that adjusted. In the meantime you can adjust you idle a little higher. You can do this by adjust a screw where the throttle cable sits on top of the engine.... Please give a good rating, it reaaly means a lot. Please feel free to keep in touch
