The LCD display quit working, along with the other components attached to the receiver, TV, speakers etc.. It does power on, but nothing else works. Any ideas?
I just had the same problem. Turned it on, but no display or sound. Checked the fuses on the board and at least one was definitely blown. They're 125/250v 2A 5x20mm glass tube. Easily found them on ebay for $5.28 (free shipping!), plugged them in, and all is good again.

I had the same problem after 13 years of use. Found the fuses, replaced them and all is well again!
My overload problem has been resolved. I had to replaced the speaker selector(I called it a speaker controller in an earlier post). All my additional speakers were connected to this which was connected directly to my receiver. Hope this helps everyone else.
Wow, maybe its some kind of internal self distruct on these. Happened to me a couple days ago and sure enough my fuses were blown too. Going to hit the shack and see if it fixes it for me. Great find Myth.
Looking from the front. the fuses are located on the left under a green board near the top of the receiver. the green board has 2 small holes cut out only so your able to see if the fuses is bad.
The fuses are on the bottom side of the green board that's attached to the power supply (other side of power supply from the power cord). I'm off to radio shack now to see if a couple of fuses fixes the problem.
I checked that - good suggestion, but not the solution.
I got the flashing overload message once, and immediately shut the amp off.
Turned it back on a couple of more times and the display gradually got dimmer. I'm thinking that there must have been some kind of stored charge keeping that going for a bit longer, but whatever part of the unit that got tripped is still switched off [hopefully not for good].
There is still power to the LEDs on the front [power, unit selection and the aforementioned speaker 1/2] but no display to the main screen and no audio [except for a very distant ouput through the subwoofer]
I love this amp - sure wish I could ressurect it.
The JVC RX-884VBK is a great machine, I had it for over 5 years and had no problem at all. I came across the (NO SOUND at all) and I believe it is an easy fix. Check the Front left, there are 2 keys marked 1 and 2 for SPEAKERS output, sometimes you don't notice that you connected the speakers to 1 and the 2 key is pressed. You could have both keys pressed and you will get the sound. I hope that helps.

Ditto.. I tuned my Amp on an got a flashing OVERLOAD message - then the display gradually dimmed [~3-4 seconds ]. Now there is no display or audio.
I tried disconnecting all of the speakers [2 fronts and a sub] 1 by 1 and then all of the components. Still dead after all other outputs are disconnected.
Turns out my problem was caused by the two 125v 2amp fuses inside the unit. They are located inside(not near the power plug) under a board that may have a small square cut out to remove them. I had a local repair shop replace mine. This solved my initial problem. Currently I'm experiencing the overload problem. I've narrow this down to the three sets of speakers I have attached to a controller that connects to my amp. Either the controller is the cause of the overload or one set of the speakers is causing the overload. The amp works fine with the controller disconnected.
