SOURCE: Circuit Breaker and Dometic Rooftop RV Air

Since your RV A/C works O.K. when plugged in to the land line and the trip happens when you run it on your generator the problem may be related to the generator output. It is possible that the power being supplied by the generator is not handling the surge when the A/C starts. Starting Amperage on start up is about 5 times the running Amperage for about 3 seconds until the compressor comes up to its rated speed.

SOURCE: Relay (?) sticking Dometic RV rooftop AC

Go up on the roof of the unit and remove the AC Shroud. With the unit running, see if you can pinpoint where the sound is coming from. The only thing on the entire AC that would make that much of a vibration would be the fan motor. Not sure what would cause the fan motor to do this. The compressor may do that but only if the windings are bad and then it would not be cooling.

Multiple clicking sounds coming from AC unit before AC unit turns on or before furnace turns on.

the is a 24v wire that feeds from your thermostat to your unit, inside there is a contactor that engages, this makes a click sound as it really is a basic mechanical part the makes metal touch metal to allow current to flow through the system, perfectly normal, your hearing the low voltage engage the highvoltage at the contactor.

Crazy Heat

I think that I would change out the thermostat only due to the symptoms you are describing. Think the control board may be fine however, the thermostat sounds as if the internal componants are going out. Good luck on your repairs

Dometic AC fan mode or cool mode wont start. Has a climate control t-stat, lights up.But nothing on AC ?Whats with phone line connection ?

Some manufacturers use phone line to use as communication between control box on AC unit & thermostat. (very common.) Make sure 120VAC is on, and pull cover off thermostat & look for a glass type fuse possibly blown.

RV A/C COMPRESSOR RUNS CONSTANTLY

You must isolate the problem by disconnecting the thermostat wires that go to the unit. If the compressor does not run when the t-stat wires are disconnected, that shows that the t-stat is malfunctioning, or there is a short in the wiring between the t-stat and the ac unit.

If the unit continues to run after disconnecting the t-stat wires, then you'll have to look in the unit for a stuck relay

Circuit Breaker and Dometic Rooftop RV Air

Its the watts you plug in too like ither 30 watts vs 50 watts. 30 watts will cause your wires to get hot in the unit. just pull down your breaker box and look at those white ground wires.
